What should a model’s portfolio include?
A strong portfolio is one of the most important tools for every model. It is your visual résumé and often the first thing agencies and clients use to decide whether to invite you to a casting or book you for a project.
For a basic portfolio, we recommend starting with two professional looks:
📸 1. Test Shoot (Beauty/Natural Look)
This is the foundation of every model’s portfolio. A clean, natural look allows clients and agencies to see your features, proportions, and versatility without distractions.
📸 2. A Fashion or Type-Specific Look
Your second look should highlight your unique style or market. It could be a fashion editorial, commercial look, sporty style, elegant concept, or any image that best represents your type and strengths.
As a minimum, these two looks should provide around 10 professionally retouched photos.
However, if you want to increase your chances of getting noticed, we recommend building a portfolio with approximately 20 high-quality images.
A larger portfolio allows you to:
✔️ Show different facial expressions and emotions.
✔️ Demonstrate a variety of poses and angles.
✔️ Highlight your versatility.
✔️ Appeal to a wider range of clients and casting opportunities.
Remember, a portfolio isn’t about having hundreds of photos—it’s about having the right photos that tell your story and showcase your potential.
Invest in quality, keep your portfolio updated, and let your images speak for you.
