The CEO of Born To Blog, Sahr Memphis, has been taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Sierra Leone Police over a social media campaign post.

Reports indicate that the matter follows complaints from members of the public who allege that the post was offensive and could be interpreted in different ways depending on context. Investigations are ongoing.

However, Born To Blog has defended the publication, stating that the post was strictly a campaign message and did not mention any individual by name, nor was it intended to insult or target anyone.

The platform stated: “The post is a campaign message showing support for Mrs. Tuma Gento. It does not mention any individual by name, nor does it contain any intention to insult or target anyone.”

Born To Blog has called for fairness, due process, and transparency as the matter is reviewed, while reaffirming its commitment to responsible journalism and respect for the laws of Sierra Leone.
