โ‡๏ธOur Beanies are made with all natural fibres and colours from our alpacas, which means it's much better for our environment than dyed wool, which we found most overseas manufactured beanies are.

โ‡๏ธAlpaca wool is as soft as cashmere, four times warmer than sheep's wool, hypo-allergenic and almost completely waterproof! Perfect for those cold days out!

Since day one, weโ€™ve been working tirelessly in order to provide lovingly made, warm, pure natural beanies! Weโ€™re proud of how far weโ€™ve come, yet remain committed to developing and providing an even better experience and product for our customers. You will find that the hollow fibre alpaca wool provides a soft warm fit that warms the air inside the fibres but is not itchy or scratchy. The downside of alpaca wool is that although it is soft and warm (hollow fibre) it is not quite as consistent or strong as sheep fibre which makes it difficult to manufacture. Much alpaca wool is hand spun and hand knitted and it is difficult to make commercial production of 100% alpaca fibre products economically viable, even though they are much better for the environment than many imported products. We can assure you that your Bells Beach Beanie has been ethically and lovingly produced without exploitation of workers or damage to the environment. Many overseas produced woollen and synthetic products are made via the release of chemicals and colouring dyes into local river systems and our present trade polices do little to prevent these products entering the Australian market and competing with more sustainably produced Australian made products. As there is no lanolin in alpaca fibre (as there is in sheep wool) there is less scouring of the wool which also reduces production run off during processing. Hopefully if you wish to support Australian manufacturing and ethical production and treatment of animals you might be prepared to pay a little bit more to support the revival of a quality sustainable wool manufacturing industry in Australia.

As a 100% natural product it is important to follow the hand washing and drying instructions very carefully to ensure that your beanie retains its softness and shape.
