Took a punt on a bunch of old hand saws posted on Marketplace, mostly Disston.

One of them, an apparently rare no76 "Centennial". The Medallion makes it an 1888-96 model.
Even more rare is the patent date. It's backwards!

More often than not I'll bring home an old disston from the tip shop or a garage sale and apart from needing a clean and a sharpen they're good to go. For a couple of bucks who can blame me?

This one was missing a horn. In lieu of a piece of cherry wood (or is it apple?) I spliced in a piece of much fancier Huon pine.

Loving the contrast, is it punk? I intend to use it so I don't care to make it perfect.

This is Keith the Brown Turkish fig and in the background Margaret the White Genoa.

Both are in 3rd season with just little over 2 years in the ground.
Keith is coming along quite strongly with early fruit beginning to form.
Margaret is actually the older tree, having spent a few years in a pot before planting. The stunted growth is a symptom of a large ant colony forming around her roots which was cured with soapy water.
These 2 plants represent my first experiments in espalier and as a test subject have also far proven ideal. The fast growth rate means you can get a feel for pruning strategies, experience the aesthetics earlier and highlight shortcomings in your setup. Here I discovered that 30cm(12") for the first cordon is too low (though I get 3 cordons into workable picking and pruning height) and would probably opt for 50-60cm cordon spacing as I have with later plantings

Have been needing a new workbench for my studio for some time now so I made one.
100% reclaimed materials
650mm deep by 2100 long. I've got it set at 900mm off the floor for standing at.
Looking forward to some leatherworking, model making, sculpting projects which I've been neglecting for some time.
