Editors Notes from NOISE Issue 3...
To quote the folk/punk enigma that is Frank Turner, “The strongest idea that punk rock gave the world was iconoclasm. The idea that we can make the music we want to hear and we don’t need to wait for anyone’s approval” Trust an aging punk rock troubadour to put things in perspective, huh? To me, this qoute epitomises what NOISE is all about. To try and make mys
elf a little bit clearer, NOISE to me is more than just another sh*tty music rag that kids pick up, read once and score some sweet scene points. Sure, it’s just a music rag with articles and interviews and other cool music stuff but the message behind it runs far deeper and stronger than the forty odd pages of “literature” (as my mum would call it). To me, the idea that you can make or do whatever you want without having to wait for anyone’s approval is the most powerful and meaningful message that can be spread. Too many times have I witnessed human beings with amazing potential to make a difference, sit back and
become content coming home from thier job at Crazy Clarkes to a night of mundane television and Maggi Easy Mac. Do not let the fear of failure stop you from trying, otherwise no one would have ever achieved anything. Everybody has potential far beyond your imagination. Everybody has something they are good at, something they love. Whether that be writing, drawing, music, selling stock or whatever your thing. And if it’s what you want, go and get it. I can’t stress enough to not become complacent with yourself or with your life and never lose touch of who you are and what you believe in. Don’t let
anybody tell you that you can’t do anything or that you aren’t good enough. We live in a country where free speech is a right, not a priveledge (be aware of the difference between “hate talk” and “free speech” though). The right to happiness, individuality and creative freedom is for everyone, not just those stupid fu***ng hipsters with thier Raybans and boat shoes. This IS NOISE. The idea that anything is possible with hard work, dedication and belief in your own abilities. We are the future of tomorrow. Live in the present. Stand up, GET LOUD and make some fu***ng NOISE. NOISE represents a voice, a movement if you will. It represents you and the ability and potential that everybody has within them. But for those who just pick this up for the sh*tty interviews and articles, that’s
cool too. So until next time, have faith in hummanity, give peace a chance and live long and prosper. Benjamin Pratt and the kind people at NOISE Magazine xox
