There’s smaller steps you can take to start. There’s softer entry points you can begin with, and there’s kinder ways to reminder yourself that doing something is braver than not doing anything at all.

You won’t learn to be fluent in your reo with ALK Learning. You will learn to have fun with learning, you will be proud to showcase culture in your home, and you will begin to be brave enough to try 🖤💚💙❤️

A behind the scenes on where our ALK branding and logo stems from.

A blended whanau, a bonus māmā, a full-time working māmā with a creative industry background but working in sport and really just wanted to explore business as an additional income stream to support the crazy world we’re all enjoying.

There’s an element of strategy to our logo design and the rationale to it but ultimately our ALK Learning is a reflection of cultural learnings, curiosity and a place to land when you’re first starting our 🖤💙❤️💚

Pt.2 of our [very impromptu] 3-Part Series 🌺

A small rationale behind the ALK Learning brand name and logo design explained. There’s a strong ethos and strategy of wanting/hoping blended whanau, pakeha, people sitting in the diaspora to Pacific Island culture feel LESS uncomfortable in engaging with something from Pacific Islanders - for EVERYONE.

We tend to associate our confidence and connection to Pasifika through the visibility of pattern, design, artwork, tamoko, food… a plethora of tangible “thing” but if you have lost connection - are yet to be connected, ALK can be your soft entry in. For you, for your tamariki, for your friend, for your community group, whoever needs a hand to hold and find there connection to culture 🫶🏽

What are third culture kids?

Our tamariki who grow up between cultures - who live or a born in one country, with parents and a cultural heritage from another are [lightly what we call] our third culture kids.

There is a lot of depth to this, and it can be complex on the influence to our cultural identity - BUT - ALK Learning isn’t that deep. It’s simple, it’s playful and it’s an easy first step to bring into your whare 🫶🏽
