I didn’t make this post to complain but rather it’s a reflection of the reality we live in as a small independent fashion brand founder.
When I went into the Zara store today, I too felt the temptation to buy some of the pieces. Which made me think how difficult is it is for brands like mine to survive. I started my brand inspired by my cultural heritage over three years ago. It is a true privilege that I get to design pieces that are meaningful to me and share them with people worldwide.
We live in such a fast paced world where people value trendy styles at a lower price point over sustainable slow fashion most of the time. So I understand that despite us being one of the earlier brands who create pieces inspired by East Asian heritage, brands like Zara will ultimately gain more popularity than ours.
So if you’ve ever purchased from YÁNG, I thank you. 🫶🏼 And if you’re ever thinking about purchasing from us, I really really do appreciate it. Because I know there are so many other choices that you can buy from instead. There will always be competition and we will always try to do the most we can to bring you quality pieces with meaning.
