✨ MEET LOUISE ✨

Behind Milo's Nest is me — Louise.

I wear many hats: Mum. Wife. Carer. Registered Nurse. Advocate. Lead Creative Designer. CEO. Business Owner.

I am a proud mum of six children, each of whom has helped shape the person I am today. But it was one very special little boy who completely changed my world and set me on a path I never expected to walk.

My journey has been one of hospital stays, sleepless nights, medical complexities, endless advocacy, celebrating milestones others may take for granted, and learning to find strength in the moments that challenge us most. As a registered nurse, I understood healthcare. As a mother and carer, I learned what it truly means to live it every single day.

Milo's Nest was born from lived experience. It grew from a desire to create something better for children with disabilities, medically complex needs, and the families who care for them. I wanted to prove that adaptive clothing could be functional, inclusive, comfortable and beautiful.

Every design, every decision, and every step forward is driven by a simple belief: every child deserves to feel included, valued and celebrated exactly as they are.

To my family, my community, and everyone who has supported Milo's Nest — thank you. Your encouragement helps turn one mother's journey into something that can make a difference for families everywhere.

💛 Leadership. Empathy. Creativity. Purpose.
💛 That's what drives me. That's who I am.

"I'm all for inclusion, but..."

As a parent of a child with a disability, you've probably heard this phrase more times than you can count.

Often it comes from other parents.

"I'm all for inclusion, but my child needs extra attention from the teacher."
"I'm all for inclusion, but it changes the dynamic of the class."
"I'm all for inclusion, but I don't want my child missing out."
"I'm all for inclusion, but shouldn't there be a special school for that?"
"I'm all for inclusion, but we don't have the resources."

The truth is, everything said after the word "but" often reveals what inclusion really means to that person.

Because inclusion isn't about choosing one child over another.

It isn't about lowering standards.
It isn't about giving one child an advantage.
And it certainly isn't about simply allowing a child with a disability to be present.

True inclusion is belonging.

It means adapting environments instead of expecting children to fit into a rigid mould.

It means making room at the table, on the playground, in the classroom, at birthday parties, on sporting teams, and in our communities.

It means recognising that diversity isn't a problem to solve—it's a strength to embrace.

True inclusion ensures children with disabilities are not only present, but valued, respected, supported, and given genuine opportunities to participate alongside their peers.

And contrary to what some may believe, inclusion doesn't take opportunities away from other children. It teaches empathy, kindness, acceptance, leadership, and understanding—lessons that cannot be taught from a textbook.

Inclusion is not a charity project.
It is not a favour.
It is not something children with disabilities have to earn.

It is a fundamental human right.

Because every child deserves more than a seat in the room.

They deserve to belong there.

And when someone says, "I'm all for inclusion, but..." I often wonder if they've ever considered that one day it could be their child on the other side of that sentence.

When we get inclusion right, it's not just children with disabilities who benefit.

Everyone does. ❤️

💙Inclusion Is More Than Just Being There💙

It's often the little things that mean the most.

A kind gesture from a teacher. Recognition for hard work. Celebrating effort, determination, and progress. These moments bring joy and encouragement to any child.

But for Milo, they are extra special.

Milo's brain works incredibly hard every single day. He works hard to concentrate, to process information, to follow instructions, to navigate social situations, and to learn the many rules and routines that come with starting school.

The transition to school hasn't just been about learning letters and numbers. It's been about learning an entirely new world, and he has been doing an amazing job.

When teachers take the time to notice his efforts, celebrate his achievements, and acknowledge how hard he is trying, it means more than words can express. It reminds us that progress isn't always measured by grades or milestones, but by courage, persistence, and showing up every day ready to try again.

Inclusion isn't just about sitting in the same classroom.

It's about belonging.
It's about being seen.
It's about being valued.
It's about recognising effort as much as achievement.

Today, we're grateful for the educators who understand that and who help children like Milo shine.

💙 Every child deserves to feel included, celebrated, and capable.

INCLUSION IS MORE THAN A WORD ❤️

Inclusion is not simply allowing someone into a space.

Inclusion is the opposite of exclusion.
It is the opposite of segregation.
It is the opposite of isolation.

For too long, people with disabilities, Down syndrome, and intellectual disabilities have been separated from their peers, overlooked, underestimated, or left on the sidelines.

Inclusion means belonging.

It means being invited, welcomed, valued, and respected.

It means children learning together, playing together, celebrating together, and growing together. It means recognising that every person has something meaningful to contribute, regardless of their abilities, diagnosis, or support needs.

The greatest barriers are often not physical—they are attitudes, assumptions, and stigma.

When we choose inclusion, we challenge stereotypes.
When we choose inclusion, we create opportunities.
When we choose inclusion, we build communities where everyone feels they belong.

As parents, carers, educators, and community members, we all have a role to play in breaking down the stigma surrounding disability, Down syndrome, and intellectual disability.

Because every child deserves friendship.
Every child deserves dignity.
Every child deserves opportunities.
And every child deserves to feel like they belong.

Inclusion isn't about changing people with disabilities to fit into the world.

It's about changing the world so everyone has a place within it. 💙💛

Our Why 💛

This is where Milo's Nest began.

Not in a boardroom.
Not from a business plan.
Not from a dream of starting a clothing brand.

It began here — in a hospital room, holding my little boy while machines beeped around us and the world outside kept moving.

As a Registered Nurse, I understood the medical side of what was happening. As a mother, I was completely heartbroken.

We spent years living between hospital admissions, surgeries, medical appointments and uncertainty. During that time I saw firsthand how something as simple as getting dressed became another challenge. Hospital gowns were clinical, uncomfortable and stripped away a child's individuality at a time when they needed comfort and dignity the most.

I couldn't change Milo's diagnoses.
I couldn't stop the procedures.
I couldn't take away the hard days.

But I could create something better.

Milo's Nest was born from a mother's journey to make life a little easier for children with disabilities, medical complexities and their families. Clothing that is practical, accessible and functional — but also beautiful, inclusive and made with love.

Because every child deserves to feel comfortable.
Every child deserves to feel included.
And every child deserves clothing that sees them for who they are, not their diagnosis.

This is our why.
This is Milo's story.
And this is the heart behind Milo's Nest. 💛
