Marianne Penberthy Artist Marianne Penberthy is a Textile Artist from Geraldton WA. Her works are inspired by materials, concepts and stitch and relate to land and sense of place.

Marianne Penberthy was born in Queensland and moved to Western Australia in the early seventies. She studied Art and Design at Central West College in Geraldton before gaining a BA (Visual Arts) from Edith Cowan University in Perth in 1995. Marianne has held three solo exhibitions in Geraldton and participated in numerous group exhibitions around Australia and overseas. She has been a participant

in a number of Australia’s most prestigious textile awards and exhibitions, including the Tamworth Fibre Textile Biennial, Western Australia’s biannual Stitched and Bound, and Expressions: The National Wool Quilt Prize, Geelong, Victoria. In 2011 she was part of the Textile Exchange Program between West Australian and Japanese textile artists in Hyogo Japan and The International Bojagi and Beyond in San Fransisco USA. Her work covers a broad range of textile media and concepts. However, relationships with isolation, land, place and family are central to her art practice.
