🏁 A NEW CHAPTER AT THE SPEEDWAY 🏁
Well, I guess it’s time to make it official!
I’m incredibly excited, and genuinely appreciative, to announce that I’ll be taking over the Speedway Media contract from Angryman Photography for the upcoming season and a few more after this one.
This is a pretty big opportunity for me, and one I certainly don’t take lightly.
Over the past few years, I’ve been lucky enough to spend plenty of time around the speedway with Angry himself. I’ve tagged along on more than a few speedway excursions as his guest, picked up plenty of knowledge along the way, and most importantly, developed a real enjoyment for photographing speedway.
So when the opportunity came up to take over the role, I was absolutely stoked.
Angry has built a fantastic reputation around Tasmanian speedway photography over many years, so I know I’ve got some pretty big shoes to fill. But I’m excited for the challenge, and I reckon if anyone is up for the job, I’m the man for it!
📸 SO, WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
There will be a few changes this season, particularly around pricing structures and the packages available.
I’ll be offering a variety of options so drivers, teams and divisions can choose something that suits them, including:
• Individual photo purchases
• Individual driver night packages
• Full division packages - Season
• Title night packages
• Season packages - Drivers / Teams
• High-resolution and web-use options
• Prints available to order separately
• Plus the occasional highlight video where requested
Full pricing and package information will be released separately.
One thing I won’t be offering is posters.
Angryman Photography will still be producing those.
I’m more than happy to take a poster enquiry and pass it on, but realistically, it’ll probably be easier to deal directly with Angryman for your poster orders. If he needs one of my images for the design, he can simply contact me and we’ll sort it out between us.
So Angry isn’t disappearing completely - you’ll still be seeing his work around!
🏎️ DRIVER & TEAM MEDIA DAYS
Something else I’m considering this season is running dedicated Speedway Media Days.
The idea would be to give drivers and teams the opportunity to get some proper, clean team-style photography away from the pressure of race night - drivers with their cars, crew photos, individual portraits and other promotional content.
If there’s enough interest, I’d look at holding three separate days:
📍 North West
📍 North
📍 South
This one will depend entirely on interest, so keep an eye out - I’ll put some more information together soon and see how many people would be keen.
🤝 A QUICK NOTE ON SPONSORSHIP
I also want to make something clear from the beginning.
I won’t be offering driver sponsorships this season.
This first year is about getting comfortable in the role, meeting everyone, learning how I want to approach an entire speedway season and developing my own style and workflow.
I want to spend a season getting that right before I even consider sponsorship arrangements.
So please don’t be offended if you ask, but save yourself the message, because for this season the answer will be no. 😂
Most importantly, I’m genuinely grateful to have been given this opportunity.
I’m looking forward to meeting more of the drivers, crews, families and supporters throughout the season and putting my own touch on covering Tasmanian speedway while respecting the work that Angry has put into it before me.
There’ll be some changes. There’ll be some new ideas. And I’m sure I’ll learn plenty along the way.
But I’m bloody excited to get started.
