Happy Weekend! Today, I got to walk along my favourite waterfront (with a lovely little cappuccino in hand) followed by opening and setting up a new addition to my workspace - a coverstitch machine 🤗 I even got some medical scrubs alterations done. A day off from work doesn't mean a day off from doing what I love ☺️

In between my current projects and client work, I wanted to share a few photos of some of the dresses I made🧵 👗
The grey one was made using linen and silk, and the purple-black dress was created using a combination of satin, jacquard and silk chiffon. The final dress, the white one, was made of crisp linen and a beautiful floral organza fabric. Combining fabrics always adds an interesting complexity to any design.

It’s a bit cold in Brisbane right now, but not in my sewing room😊
This is one of my favourite summer dresses I completed recently, Simplicity – it has bright colours and is made of lightweight rayon fabric from . Two sashes were made in both plain and printed fabrics to create more options to wear (which one would you choose?😊).
This dress fits very well, the only thing that was altered is the sleeve bands. After a few wears, I decided that the sleeve band needed to be reduced in circumference. So, I altered it by 7.5 cm, and it fits better. I added a photo of the sleeve band below (Before and After photo). I am totally satisfied with the results.

It has been a while since I posted any sewing updates here!
Working full time means that I do not have much time to sew for myself and do unique patternmaking. So, I tried a few commercial sewing patterns and one of them is pattern McCall’s .
I made two dresses recently. For the first one, which was navy with border print, I used fabric from my stash, and I had almost 1 metre less than what I needed. I cut it crosswise, shortened the sleeves a bit and everything worked out pretty well. I also added a removable, beaded neckline decoration that is held on a clasp and ring.
With the second dress, which was the green/blue peacock print, I got the right length of fabric. I also did some pattern adjustments, such as shortening the front and back by 1cm, taking in the side seams of the waistline by 1 cm, and making the right length of sleeves. Just a few little alterations made this summer dress even more comfortable. So yes, I would say, my experience with this pattern was very successful!
