This is Alex.
Most of you probably recognise him as one of our drivers for the business. What you probably don't know is Alex is the actual owner and founder of AH Recycling Group and had chosen to keep incognito for the whole 4 years.
From 2021-2022, Alex worked every single day at 2 jobs to save up enough money to invest in himself and his dream business. 710 days of work. No sick days, no holidays days, no rest days, only to take off Christmas.
He began with donation bins, painting them in his own garage before setting them up on various bin sites across Victoria, servicing them at all hours of the day and night. Many of his girl and guy mates, his cousin and his sister tagged along to help empty the bins and experience what Alex sees each day.
In 2023, friends Ella and Selin inspired the genius idea of home collections, completely redesigning AH Recycling and the start of the service we've all known and loved. Alex employed his sister Persephone to help with regional pickups in the van, his mum helping with the business financials, cousin Andreas in the truck, as well as friends Stefan, Dom, Malik, Jamal, PJ, Terry, Sam and Gabriel to help out with the weekend collections.
In September of 2025, Alex was running 99% of the business completely on his own, even when we were still a STATEWIDE service!!
Alex did all the admin, booking, scheduling, driving, collecting, handling and unloading, all with zero complaints and a big smile on his face. Rain, hail or shine, he would rock up to every house collection full of energy and giving it his all, never too busy to stop and chat to customers!
Alex even meet his partner Erin through the business, initially a customer herself before taking charge of admin and scheduling all collections the last 5 months! Together they ran AH Recycling side by side, implementing changes to improve efficiency and cut back exhausting pickups in far regional Victoria to prevent the physical toll on Alex. They made the devastating call to close this chapter with love and appreciation, moving on to new and exciting times.
