☀️ New on Under the Brim: The Father’s Day Edition

Let’s be honest, dads are usually the worst when it comes to sun safety. The daggy old cap, the “she’ll be right” at the beach, the sunburn he swears he didn’t feel.

Aussie men have some of the highest melanoma rates in the world, and it’s often because they put themselves last.

This Father’s Day, let’s change that. Our new blog has gift ideas that actually get worn, plus a few gentle nudges to keep him protected.

Because protecting him is loving him. 💛

Melanoma at 31 is the reason this brand exists. So when we flew into the Red Centre, the hats and sunnies came too.

Hot sun, high UV, red dirt, and every little face fully protected while we circled her.

This is exactly the sun we design for.

Melanoma at 31 changes how you see the sun.

It also changes what you do about it. So I built a brand of hats and sunnies that actually protect the people I love, then took them to the hottest, harshest part of the country to prove they hold up.

Hot sun. High UV. Red dirt. Four little faces fully protected.

If they work in the Red Centre, they will work in your backyard.

Have you driven the loop around Uluru?

Double finalist and I am a bit of a mess about it. 🧡

Overcoming the Odds AND Making a Difference in the 2026 AusMumpreneur Awards.

Two categories that both trace right back to why I started this brand. Thank you for being here for it.

Five times. That’s how many times melanoma has shown up in my life.

And it’s changed everything, right down to something as simple as my daily walk.

These days you’ll find me out here after the sun goes down. No UV. No hat, no sunnies, just me and the quiet of the evening.

My walks look different now. But I’m still walking, and that’s everything. 🌙

Hat on in winter? A few funny looks, sure. But UV doesn’t clock off just because it’s cold. 🥶

Plenty of our winter days climb to 3 or higher UV! the level where skin damage quietly starts. Cloud doesn’t stop it. Cold doesn’t stop it. And because we can’t feel UV, it’s the easy one to forget.

This month’s Under the Brim breaks down what winter UV really does and the simple habits that keep little faces protected. ☀️💛

Here is the gap most of us never think about.

🧴 Sunscreen stops at the skin.

It does nothing for the eyes, and kids’ eyes actually let in more UV than ours because their pupils are larger and their lenses are clearer.

More time outside, more exposure, and it is cumulative.

The fix is not complicated.

Proper UV400 sunnies, worn like we wear seatbelts.

Follow for sun smart tips that are not a lecture 💛

Hold them up to a shiny surface, your phone screen or a puddle works perfectly, and slowly rotate them.

If the glare fades, they are truly polarised. If nothing changes, they are just tinted plastic.

Polarised is comfort.
UV400 is protection.

Little eyes need both, or they end up squinting and pulling them straight off.

Try it tonight and tell me what happened 👀
