As a part of Mitchell's Agricultural studies at school, his major project this year is "making money from an animal" and since one of his passions is Leathercraft, he is actually learning how to tan his own leather from a hide from the butcher. It seems an in-depth process which Mitchell is learning a lot about.
Anyone have any suggestions on what he can make with the leather he ends up with??
Perhaps I should also mention, the project is about growing and caring for an animal at school, and learning ways to use products the animal produces and selling items to try to make a profit and reduce waste of animals. Ie chickens lay eggs that can be eaten, sheep produce wool to make clothes, cows have a good hide for leather etc etc. I don't think the school gets many opportunities to do this process as other students often take more common pursuits, but good on you Mitchell for pushing your limits and learning more about your craft.
