Same lady as the skirts...this time with a couple of tricker jobs included. The woolen jacket was way too long for her, so I shortened it but kept the band around the bottom. The black top had a hole in the sheer sleeve. I tried all sorts of ideas like tacking on some lace, then doing the same on the other sleeve, however it changed the way the sleeve hung. The lace was too heavy for the sheer material...it the hole was smaller it may have worked. Anyway, in the end I just hand stitched it toogether as that was the least visable...especially as the sleeves volume would hide it fairly well. Being such a fragile material I really only had one shot at it, but it turned out OK I think... 🤔...Sandi was happy, so that is all that mattered...🙂

This lady contacted me about some skirts she wanted shortened...some lined others not. The lined were a bit trickier as yI needed to move the slit at the back up and not every skirt slit is made the same, however they turned out well and she was happy with the finnished result. Thanks Sandi...!! :-)

This return customer usually brings pants to shorten however this time it was a more challenging job. Three quilts that their dogs had ripped, but they really wanted to keep the quilts as they were good quality. They gave me some matching pillow slips that helped to make the pattern joining easier, although I completely cut one pattern strip out of one because it was easier and replaced it with a matching piece of one of the pillow slips. There was also a bed sheet that needed the elastic replaced. Thanks Jamie and Fiona...!! 🙂

Been busy with lots of little mending jobs, but here is an alteration. This dress has shoulders than slipped off and was too loose at the back. I inserted a sheer piece topped with lace and replaced the elastic in the shoulders at the front....fits perfectly now...!! 🙂👍

This local lady needed new curtains for her caravan. Loved doing this job as I also got to help her put them in and see how they looked. She was very happy with them...and so was I...!! 👍😍

Been pretty busy with mending and alterations...so haven't posted in a while. I have forgotten to take photos of some jobs, but here are a few I have remembered. This one I had to take 14cm off the length of new jeans.

And...another replacement zip. This gentleman was finding that the zip was popping open (it was a fine toothed zip) and asked to have a stronger zip. I couldn't fined a metal one the right length, so I went for a chunkier plastic one.

Another returning customer, this lady came with a puffer jacket that needed a side seam repair. It also had burn holes and the fabric had melted. The melted fabric had to be trimmed and then I needed to find something to match it. Luckily I had something very similar I could use. This job is a bit like the school blazer, where you have to undo the lining, shift around the stuffing, sew the new patch into the hole, then put back the stuffing and close the lining again. Because the holes weren't super large, the turn to sew them was tight and hard to get flat. Patching jobs are never perfect but you can get pretty close. The customer was happy as it wasn;'t like she was wearing it to a wedding...just around the yard at home...😉
