How has it already been 4 weeks since the Australian Yarn Show?! I’m still thinking about what a wonderful weekend it was. I loved catching up with friends, watching presentations, and shopping at the yarn market. The community dinner on Saturday night was also lovely… I won one of the lucky door prizes! An amazing hamper with lots of yummy goodies 😋

My stash enhancements included:machine yarn earrings
yarn bucket and dragon stitch markers
Festival Threads book
Fast and Fabulous Knits book
assigned pooling yarn
mini sparkly rainbow skeins

Thank you for hosting such a fantastic event!! I can’t wait until next year!! 😁

🎉 New Pattern Released! 🎉

The Tiziana Cowl was designed and made for my daughter’s wonderful ballet teacher. The criss-crossing cables remind me of the ties on ballet shoes 🩰 The pattern is suitable for an intermediate level crocheter, and includes written instructions, a chart, and a video tutorial.

I used Classic 8 ply in Caramel 🤎

The pattern can be purchased on Ravelry or the Bendigo Woollen Mills website:

Tech editing services update!

I have finally made the difficult decision to return to my engineering job which means I am stepping away from tech editing for now. My very long maternity leave (5 years!) has been wonderful and I have thoroughly enjoyed having the flexibility of my own crochet business to keep me busy (when my girls weren’t, haha!).

I won’t be stepping away from crochet or my business completely. I will continue to design, release patterns, and attend yarny events whenever I can. So hopefully our paths will continue to cross and we can keep supporting each other! 💖

I’ve reached halfway with my Peaceful Leaves Blanket and I LOVE it!!! 🌿🥰

I’m using Classic 12 ply in Pale Eucalypt and Fern. These colours are gorgeous and I think they look great together 💚 Thank you so much to Bendigo Woollen Mills for the generous yarn support for this blanket! 🙌

My beautiful 10mm Tunisian hook is from and the cute pink scissors are from 💕

YAY!! I love working on a new design! I’m so happy with how this blanket is coming along. I think I’ll call it Peaceful Leaves Blanket 🌿🥰

My beautiful 10mm Tunisian hook is from and I’m so happy to be using it again for this throw size blanket! 😁

The cute pink scissors are my new favourite tool. I got them earlier this year at the wonderful NSW retreat. Scissors are a must for this colour-changing design (but don’t worry, I have a plan for all the ends and it does NOT involve weaving them in 🙅‍♀️😮‍💨😅)!

Ahhh, that’s better 😄 I started my Gumnut Blanket embroidery using the darker pink Cerise yarn, but I decided it stood out too much against my Stone coloured blanket. I tried the lighter pink Rose Petals and I am much happier with the result. Someone who understands colour theory could probably explain why, but I think choosing colours that don’t contrast too much work best for this design 🙌

My first Gumnut Blanket was Light Teal with Peach blossoms which worked really well. Check out the black and white photo to see the low contrast of these colours 👍

So here’s a tip for you if you’re making a Gumnut Blanket - take a black and white photo of the yarns you plan to use and make sure they don’t contrast. If you’re shopping online, take a screenshot and change it to black and white to check. That’s how I picked the Rose Petals colour for my Stone coloured blanket 👌

Also, another tip - if you like to plan out where your petals will be before you start embroidering, you could use stitch markers as suggested in the pattern or you could use scrap pieces of yarn. I considered making a paper template as well, but I think the scrap pieces of yarn are working well enough for now 😅

Finished! I am so excited to wear this shawl! The yarn is sooo soft 🥰 It’s Blackbeard which is 70% polwarth and 30% silk. This gorgeous colour is called Eyes For You 😍

I had the perfect amount of the third skein left over to make tassels with my tassel maker from . This tool makes it so easy! Love it! I also love being able to use all of my yarn without any waste! So good 🙌

I’ve started writing the pattern, but I have quite a few designs I’m working on at the moment so I’m not sure when this one will be ready for testing. What would you call this design? I’m thinking something like Subtle Petals Shawl, but I’m open to better suggestions! I struggle when it comes to naming my patterns 😅

I just sent the pattern for my Michigan Waves Cowl to my tech editor! Woohoo! That means the pattern is ready for testing 😁 Would anyone like to test this for me? You’ll need approximately 400m of 4 ply / fi*****ng weight yarn and a 6mm Tunisian crochet hook.

Thank you so much to the for organising such a wonderful weekend full of yarn crafting goodness. 🧶

I thoroughly enjoyed the social crafting, yarn shopping, and both workshops that I attended. Ann Budd taught an awesome workshop on Introduction to Sweater Design and taught a fun workshop on Tunisian crochet. 😄 I love learning from master teachers!

Thank you to Anita from for helping me choose some gorgeous yarn to bring home. ☺️ I can’t wait to design something with these beautiful colours.

I look forward to attending the next Knitters Guild Gathering! 🧶😄

Huge congratulations to Shelley for releasing her 10th crochet pattern book! 👏🎉

I am incredibly grateful that Shelley gave me the opportunity to tech edit this amazing book for her. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Shelley’s patterns are so consistent and well written, the stitch charts are beautiful, and the designs are all so creative, unique, and clever. If you like making granny squares, I highly recommend Corners and Curves or any of Shelley’s other books! 📚🌟

It was so wonderful to catch up with you, Shelley, at the Bendigo ! 🐑🧶🥰

I had the best day yesterday! Susannah from shared so much knowledge with us during her Getting into Garments workshop at 💖

Susannah did a wonderful job of explaining how to use your own body measurements, preferences, and gauge swatch to modify a sweater pattern for ideal fit. She broke down the math into small logical steps and supplied several worksheets and resources to help. This approach gave everyone the confidence to use these skills for all future garment projects! Thank you, Susannah! 🙌💕
