This week, I’ll be celebrating the women who have shaped me,
the women who have influenced my life, who I look up to, who have inspired me, who have loved me, and who I love.
And I’m starting with my mum.
The woman who shaped me in every way that truly matters.
You came to Australia with your brothers and sisters, without your parents…
just a young girl stepping into a completely new world.
A new country, a new language, a new life, and still, you found your way.
You didn’t just adjust… you carved a path. You learnt, you worked, you built, and somehow, without having that guidance behind you, you became the guidance for everyone around you.
You raised a family without parents to lean on, yet you became everything you didn’t have, and more.
When I think about that, I can’t even comprehend it. There is no version of my life that exists without you in it, every single day.
From such a young age, you showed me what it means to be a woman…
to be strong, to work hard, to keep going even when it’s heavy.
You were never loud about it… but your strength was constant.
Steady. Unshakable. Always there.
You stood just behind me, never in my way, never holding me back,
but always close enough to catch me if I fell.
You let me make my own mistakes,
you gave me your advice…
and even when I didn’t take it, you were always right.
You’ve held me through my darkest hours, and somehow always found a way to give me the strength to stand back up again.
Your strength didn’t just support me… it became part of me.
Some of the biggest decisions I’ve made in my life still carry your voice quietly behind them.
A voice that grounded me.
A voice that guided me.
A voice that never left me.
You didn’t just raise me…
you shaped the woman I am becoming.
And I couldn’t be more proud, more grateful, or more certain of anything…
than calling you my mum. 🤍
