One of the ways I show my kids I love them is through bags. The biggest labour of love is always the backpacks.
Next year my daughter starts highschool and she starts it in home made style. This is Australia made waxed canvas. The canvas, the hardware and straps and pulls all came from Dreamy Bag Hardware, the liner fabric is from Fabric by Missy Rose.
This really is a labour of love. Including everything you can't see like foam and interfacing, there is approximately $140 worth of materials in this bag. There's around 50 hours of work. Needles have been broken, tears have been shed, the air in my home filled with language so foul it has contaminated the vocabulary of my daughter forever.
Backpacks will never be part of my range to sell. Because of the stress they induce a bag like this would be $300 - $350. If you're rich enough to want to spend that much on a quality custom made backpack, let me know. Seems like you might be my ideal customer 😁
