Hi my name is Bec,
I'm the mind behind the design for Mix It Up Life Is Short Apparel.
I enjoy being creative and am super excited to be able to share that joy in the form of prints on everyday clothing with a unique personality.
The main reason I wanted to do this post was to help you understand how this store works and the values behind the decision to set it up this way.
We use a Print-On-Demand/Made to Order business model which means the items you order are made after you place your order. This does mean your order takes a bit longer to get to you than an order you place with a Ready-To-Wear online store, but the benefits do outweigh this delay (well, I think so anyway).
3 main reasons we have chosen to go this way are as follows:
1.It gives us the ability to offer you quality products at reasonable prices because we don't have the costs of premade and finished inventory that risks not selling to factor into our overheads. Being able to be affordable without undercutting quality is the value behind this decision.
2.Products being made as needed/wanted are more environmentally friendly than mass produced pre-purchased inventory that has the risk of not selling and ending up in landfill (a major problem in the fashion industry)
3. We can continue to keep your favourite designs in our catalogue as well as adding new ones. This way you can still replace your favourite design when the old one is worn out beyond wear (and maybe find something new to buy alongside your old favourites when you visit us again.
"How much longer does it take to receive my order?", you ask. Well, in your normal online retail store, it usually takes 5-10 days in Australia (depending on location etc), our orders take 12-15 days to get to you (sometimes a couple more with public holidays or peak ordering times).
