And here is my second quilt that was gifted a couple of days ago! This one was one of the most precious quilts I’ve made so far. Made from my late grandfathers ties for my nana, every part of the process of making this quilt felt special. The pattern was designed by myself using a foundation piecing style that retained the shape of each individual tie (from the thin ties of his youth to the thicker ties he wore later in life), the other fabrics selected by hand from the incredible and the quilt ended up being one of the first to be quilted on my new machine. More than 60 hours went into this quilt (I only know that because I finished the first two outlander audiobooks while making this quilt haha šŸ˜‚) and I couldn’t be prouder of it šŸ’•

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all enjoy your festivities with family and friends. I’ll be sharing two quilts that are being gifted this festive period…

This first quilt was a commission memory quilt made from the clothes of a very loved father of five who loved sunflowers, and had a bright personality that didn’t match the darker palette of his clothes. The quilt was designed by a collaboration of his daughter (coming up with the inspiration) and me (putting the design together) using her dads clothes in the centre of each sunflower and around the border and beautiful fabrics from for the petals and background.

The extraordinary quilting from brought this quilt to life- I hope this is the first of many collaborations with this incredible local quilter!
