Reflecting back on the year 1995, I debuted my very first made-to-measure runway collection, ‘Blanc de Noir Chic’. Drawing inspiration from the elegant and glamorous women of 007 Bond movies, I embraced the minimalist era with clean, bold lines and silhouettes reminiscent of pop art.

As fate would have it, the renowned Paris designer John Galliano was in Sydney at the time and made a surprise appearance at the end-of-year graduation student show. Known for his flamboyant and theatrical runway shows, Galliano’s presence was a true delight for all in attendance.

His designs, which often incorporate elements of historical costume and fantasy, have long been a source of inspiration in my own creative journey. It was an unforgettable experience to be in the presence of such a fashion icon, and one that continues to influence my work to this day.
