You can love solo travel and actively advocate for safer, more inclusive spaces while doing it.
Solo travel isn’t just about finding yourself...it’s about how you show up for others along the way.
Plan smart.
Not every destination embraces LGBTQ+ travelers equally. Do your research. Know the local laws. Choose affirming accommodations that see your identity as something to celebrate, not erase.
Speak up.
Representation matters but not just in highlight reels or travel selfies. Use your platform, your voice, and your influence to uplift LGBTQ+ voices and share resources that make travel safer for everyone.
Support LGBTQ+ travelers especially when laws, language, and culture don’t.
From sharing safety apps like Equaldex and GeoSure, to encouraging queer-owned businesses, to simply asking: “Is this safe for you too?” Your actions as an ally make a real impact.
Because let’s be real:
If you can’t respect a country’s laws or customs, don’t go.
No one’s asking you to shrink but don’t force acceptance in places where your safety could be compromised. Not everyone has to agree with your lifestyle. Go where you’re fully embraced, not barely endured. Representation isn’t just about pictures on beaches. It’s about protection, purpose, and people.
This Pride Month, let’s travel intentionally. Let’s explore the world with empathy. And let’s ensure that the freedom to roam extends to all of us, not just a few.
