Busterandcoco

Busterandcoco Creator and Maker of functional and colourful rope and textile accessories for your home. Proudly handmade for you from Mortlake Victoria Australia.

Hi, I'm Carol and come from Mortlake, a small town in south-west Victoria, Australia, where a 10 minute jaunt down to the shops can take an hour because you run into everyone you know and they are all up for a chat. It wasn't always like this. I moved from a bustling city population 200,000 to a sleepy town of 1,200 when I married. What a culture shock, the transition was hard. I turned to my belo

ved craft and lost myself in stitching and knitting and creating. Funny how over time things change. Whilst my love of making something out of nothing is stronger than ever, I also know for sure I'll live in the country always and wouldn't have it any other way. I fell into rope sewing, literally, after doing a class making bowls out of plants and reeds and fronds from the garden. Whilst I loved the process of creating the bowl, I hated the mess and dirt and damp leaves. This lead me on a path of discovery with rope and the sewing machine and I was hooked. In starting my business Buster and Coco my aim was simple - to make functional and colourful rope and textile accessories for your home. I want you to be that person who has something truly unique and others want to know "where on earth did you get that", and you can smile knowing you have something truly wonderful. And whilst looking really beautiful, everything I make needs to have a purpose. Coasters and mats to save your precious furniture from hot dishes, or wet glasses; bowls and baskets to clear table tops of clutter and hold the the car keys or loose change, or stray Lego from the floor. My motto is simple. Life is short - use all the good things. Don't be like my grandma and grandpa who "saved" the good things to use for another day - that day never comes. Bring joy to your home with colour and textile and functionality. I hope you enjoy what you see, and give me a shout out if there's something you'd love me to make or a colour you'd love to see used, and I'll do my best.

There’s been a bit of snippety snip snip, measuring twice cutting once with the guillotine (no missing fingers whew!), stringing and bagging more of my very popular Santa tags today. Magic for the kiddies waking up Christmas morning with a pressie from Santa, not to mention work/office/family Secret Santa’s.

Getting ready for the Christmas rush and of course for the upcoming Terang Makers Early Christmas market.

And before anyone asks 🙂 I started making these before AI was even a thing at least in the world I live in. All fonts and elements used purchased for commercial use by me.

Woo hoo, see I have a theory - you get prepared for Christmas early enough, get a few things bought starting now, get your wrapping done in November, then you cruise into December without a care in the world.

The next market that Buster and Coco will be at, including some of Gilmour Art's fabulous wood lathe work, is the Terang Makers Market Early Christmas Market - on Saturday Saturday 19 September. Looking forward to it.

Hope you’ve got it marked in your calendar!

This Saturday is the final Terang Makers Market of the Winter Series and I hope I see any of the locals there - give me a high five if you are.

I’ll be there with all my rope goodies and my offsider (and hubby) will have some wood lathe items including his very popular spurtles.

Come one, come all and let’s finish the Winter Series on a high!

When it’s so cold and blustery outside it’s kinda hard to think Christmassy. But it’s that time right now when makers are buckling down and revving their engines getting Christmas themed items made. Buster and Coco included.

Making more of these handy bowls and loving that rich red and candy cane rope coloured I dyed.

If you’re thinking of putting a few items together for a gift, instead of a box that will be thrown away, use a bowl as a hamper base. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

It's time again to rev up the sewing machine and get ready for the last of the three months of the winter season of the Terang Makers Market. Holy moly we're half way through winter as it is, goodness. Pop it in your diaries, add it to your calendars.
