KEY QUALITY METRICS

1. Quality Rate

As a Merchandiser you have to deal with 2
types of customers.

1. SMS based customer
2. Non SMS based customer

SMS(Sales men Sample): Buyer asks sms sample for their marketing purpose. By SMS sample they judge the market demand of the style.
If they get a good response from their customers they provide Bulk orders to their vendors.
SMS based buyer sampling process:
1. Proto sample
2. SMS sample
3. Fit sample
4.PP sample
5.Top sample
6.Size set sample

If the proto does not get approval, the buyer asks the 2nd or 3rd proto by changing the measurement or styling.
After Proto approval the buyer asks for the sms sample. Required quantity will vary from buyer to buyer. SMS samples must be submitted with actual fabric and trims.

After the SMS sample the buyer provides a bulk order.

Then have to submit a fit sample for fitting approval with actual fabric, trims may be actual or available.

After fit approval have to make a PP sample with all fabric and trims actual.

This PP sample will be followed by the production team for bulk production.

Non SMS based buyer:

This type of buyer sometimes provides test orders to judge market like SMS then provide bulk order.

Sometimes they ask for development sample if they like that style then provide bulk order.

Sampling process:
1.Pre proto
2. Proto/Fit sample
3.PP sample
4. Top sample
5.Size set sample
6.Pilot run sample

Then strat production...

TOP sample is the reference sample of bulk production. Its refer that bulk production will be as like TOP.

Note that their may be other samples as per different buyer requirements.

Flow Chart of Merchandising
1. Obtain details Tech Pack from buyer.
2. Analyze the Tech pack and find out all risk factors, then –
a) Costing
b) Development Sampling

For Costing:
i) Do consumption from Cad.
ii) Collect the price of all the required Trims and & fabrics.
iii) Collect required data from IE (like -Thread Consumption, Operation Bulletin (OB), SMV, Productivity, Efficiency)

3. Do Initial Costing as well as make ready development Sample

4. Send Costing & sample to buyer for reviewing and comments.

5. If sample (Dev) and costing approved then have to confirm the order, but if not, have to re-do.

6. Collect final update Art-work and start for Lab Dip / Strike off/Desk-loom development as per requirement.

7. If approved above all, will get /collect the final Purchase Order (PO)from Buyer with details.

i) According TOD/CRD make a proper T & A (Time & action).

ii) Sit/Mail with Planning concern to book production space as per T & A, get the Production Cut Date (PCD) & Production Start Date (PSD) from planning.

ii) Make a final costing reviewing Final Tech Pack, re- check fabric consumption and book Fabric and Trims accordingly.

iv) Book Washing, Embroidery /Placement print space if required.
8. Be strict on Materials Inhouse date(MIHD) and make all Fabric and Trims in- house within MIHD to catch PCD.

9. Make C/Sample or Tag/ Sample or PP/Sample with all actual Fabric and Trims.

10. Arrange to do all required Lab Test ( Physical / Chemical) according buyer’s RAS( Risk Assessment Sheet)

11. Send the same Sample to buyer with Lab Test report for reviewing and Comments and finally to get Tag/ Seal.

12. If sample is approved go ahead for bulk Trims as well fabric Dyeing, if not have to re-do.

13. Arrange PP meeting with buyer with Tag sample where all the concerned Production people will be available to make clear in details about the product.

14. Arrange for bulk size set making then Initial Inspection Offer.

15. If Initial Inspection ok, go for Gmts Bulk ex*****on.

16. Do the required Lab test (Physical / Chemical) of Production sample.

17. Send the Production sample with approved Lab Test Report to the buyer for review and approval.

18. Collect the Prod sample approval from buyer and send to Prod. Unit before goods shipment( It's may vary buyer to buyer)

19. Follow up the bulk ex*****on, keep corresponding with buyer and for any issue arises have to discuss /do meeting with buying office/buyer to solve immediately.

20. Offer Final Inspection to ship out the goods.

21. Follow up the Cargo whether hand over to the forwarded within cut off time or not.

22. Also keep involving yourself with the Commercial dept, for the smooth payment receiving from the buyer.

General Sewing S.O.P (Standard Operating Procedure) :
Before input the goods, the sewing manager/in-charge will be ensure that all the accessories are ready in the store:
1. Accessories ok.
2. P.P. sample
3. Counter sample received.
4. Placement of all accessories received.
5. Print & Embroidery ok.
6. Machine layout ok.
7. Right operators on right machine.
8. Collect the accessories by requisition.
9. Machine guide if necessary.
10. Size wise and colour wise sewing required.
11. Make six sample for checking measurement, and style.
12. No WIP in the line.
13. Alter rectify time to time.
14. Ok goods make size wise bundle of 25 pcs.
15. Ok goods delivery to finishing randomly.
16. Make report.

Sewing Quality SOP :
1. Randomly cut pcs measurement by pattern.
2. Make 6 pcs garments.
a. Measurement check.
b. Style check.
c. Fabric hand feel check.
d. Shape check.
e. Wash two pieces garments for Shrinkage, Twist, color fastness check etc.
f. Iron (pressing).
3. Critical process 100% check.
4. 7 pcs audit, and make traffic light chart.
5. 100% garments check.
6. Defect garments keep separate and send back to sewing supervisor for rectify hourly.
7. Randomly measurement check & make report.
8. Ok goods send to finishing.
9. Follow up and action.

একজন আদর্শ Merchandiser হতে হলে যে ১২ টি গুণ অবশ্যই থাকতে হবে।

একজন আদর্শ Merchandiser কে কি কাজ জানতে হয় ?
মারচেন্ডাইজার যে কোন ফ্যাক্টরীর জন্য খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে থাকে। বলতে গেলে তারা বায়ার ও ফ্যাক্টরীর মধ্যে সেতুবন্ধন হিসেবে কাজ করে। আর যার মধ্যে বায়ারকে ম্যানেজ করার গুণ সবচেয়ে বেশি থাকে সে মারচেন্ডাইজিং পেশায় খুব দ্রুত উন্নতি করে থাকে। এই বায়ার ম্যানেজ করার জন্য অবশ্যই ভাল মার্চেন্ডাইজার হতে হবে।

একজন আদর্শ Merchandiser এর যে ১২টি গুণ থাকা প্রয়োজন।
১. Buyer এর পাঠানো কিছু বিষয় সম্পর্কে ভাল ধারণা থাকতে হবে। যেমন-

✔ Order sheet
✔ Size Sheet
✔ Manual Guide
✔ Fashion Design
✔ Sketch up
✔ Payment Terms and Conditions ইত্যাদি।

২. ফেব্রিক, ইয়ার্ণ ও এই সম্পর্কিত বিষয় সম্পর্কে ধারণা থাকতে হবে। যেমন-
✔ Fabric Type, Quality & Price
✔ Yarn Type, Quality & Price
✔ Supplier Type
✔ Sourcing Method

৩. কিছু টেকনিক্যাল বিষয়ে স্পষ্ট ধারণা থাকতে হবে। যেমন-
✔ Fabric & Yarn Consumption
✔ Costing
✔ Product Measurement
✔ Product SMV
✔ Product Criticality
✔ Back Calculation
✔ Competitive Pricing
✔ Allowance
✔ Wastage% ইত্যাদি।

৪. গার্মেন্টস ও টেক্সটাইল এর Production, Plan ও Quality সম্পর্কে ধারণা থাকতে হবে। যেমন-
✔ Production Time
✔ Production Capacity
✔ Production Quality
✔ Plan Follow-up ইত্যাদি।

৫. গার্মেন্টস প্রোডাকশনের জন্য বিভিন্ন উপাদান সম্পর্কে ধারণা থাকতে হবে। যেমন-

৭. বায়ার রিসার্চ করার দক্ষতা থাকতে হবে। যেমন-

✔ Buyer Lead Time
✔ Buyer Pricing, Revision, Development ইত্যাদি

৮. বায়ার এবং সাপ্লাইয়ারের সাথে ভাল যোগাযোগ দক্ষতা থাকতে হবে। যেমন-
✔ বায়ারের পাঠানো মেইল পুরোপুরি বুঝতে পারা।
✔ বায়ারকে গুছিয়ে মেইল লিখতে পারা।
✔ বায়ার ও সাপ্লাইয়ারদের সাথে মোবাইলে বা বা ভিডীও কলে সুন্দরভাবে কথা বলতে পারা।
✔ বায়ার ও সাপ্লাইয়ারদেরকে যে কোন পরিস্থিতিতে ম্যানেজ করতে পারা।

৯. বিভিন্ন ধরণের Documentation ও Policy সম্পর্কে জানতে ও বুঝতে হবে। যেমন-
✔ Export Import Policy
✔ Reporting
✔ Invoice
✔ Packing List
✔ Inspection
✔ Shipment Booking,
✔ Factory Profile & Compliance Certificates
✔ HR Organogram, Manpower Costing and Policy.

PC/ TC & CVC
#ফেব্রিক/ #সুতা বলতে অপানি কি বুঝেন?
CVC= chief value of Cotton.
PC = Polyester Cotton /TC= Tetron Cotton
যেই কাপড়ে বা সুতায় শতকরা ৫০% এর বেশি Cotton থাকবে তাকে CVC সুতা/ কাপড় বলে, যেমন একটি উদাহরণ 60% COTTON, 40% polyester
আবারএকই ভাবে যেই কাপড়ে বা সুতায় শতকরা ৫০% এর বেশি Polyester থাকবে তাকে PC/TC সুতা/ কাপড় বলে, যেমন একটি উদাহরণ 80% Polyester, 20% Cotton.
50% এর বেশির উপর নির্ভর করবে এটা CVC হবে নাকি PC/TC হবে।polyester or Tetron একই জিনিস, Tetron হচ্ছে polyester এর জাপানিজ নাম.

Different way we can calculate CM of a Garment like :
i) CM Calculation from SMV & CPM.
ii) CM Calculation from Machine Cost.
ii) CM Calculation from Line Cost .

Sample Approval এর গুরুত্ব কতটুকু?

প্রতিটা কাস্টমার fit sample, size set and finally pp sample approval হওয়ার পর কাটিং পারমিশন দেয়।

কারন এখানে ছবিতে দেখানো PP সেম্পল টি ডামিতে ফিটিং হচ্ছে না। তারমানে যে মাপের সাইজ মেনশান থাকবে, ঐ সাইজের মানুষটি এটা পরতে পারবে না।

আপনি যদি কোন ব্রান্ডের শোরুম থেকে জামা কাপড় কেনার পর, আপনার গায়ে পরিধান করতে না পারেন, তখন আপনার কাছে কেমন লাগবে?

সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ার যুগে, আপনি যদি অর্ধেক টেনেটুনে পরে ভাইরাল পোস্ট করতে পারেন, তাহলে ঐ ব্রান্ডের বারোটা বেজে যাবে।

অন্যদিকে সেম্পল রিজেক্ট হলে আপনার TNA মিস করার সম্ভাবনা আছে শতভাগ, লাইন প্লান মিস করলে নিশ্চিত PO agreed date ফেল হবে, এমনকি গুডস sea+Air or air শিপমেন্ট হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা বেড়ে যায়। এতে করে হিউজ freight cost গুনতে হবে।

পরিত্রানের উপায়, মেজারমেন্ট সঠিক ভাবে এপ্লাই করা, প্যাটার্ণ এডজাস্ট করা। fit or SS এর কমেন্টস ভালোভাবে এপ্লাই করা।
এমনকি কোন ডামি বা লাইভ ডামিতে চেক করে সেম্পল সাবমিশন করা।

আমাদের দেশে অনেক মার্চেনডাইজার আছে, এসব ক্ষেত্রে বায়ার কে আননেসেসারি রিকুয়েষ্ট করে সেম্পল এপ্রুভালের জন্য লাইন প্লান মিস হবে বলে, রিয়েলেটি চেক করে না।

তাদেরকে বলবো, এটা দুনিয়ার কেউ এপ্রুভ করবে না আনটিল আনলেস ফিক্সড /solved ইট।

প্রতিটা ক্ষেত্রে রুট কস এনালাইসিস করে সমাধান করতে হবে faster approval পেতে হলে।
