Twill vs Denim: What is the difference between twill pants and jeans?

From face value, twill pants and denim look totally different. However, when you look at the construction and style of the two types of pants, the many similarities may surprise you! As previously mentioned, both denim and twill pants are made with the traditional five pockets. This aesthetic helps create a casual look that is also practical.

The differences between the two types of pants arise from how the threads are dyed. Twill pants feature the diagonal rib on the front and are one tone of color throughout.

In denim, the warp thread has been dyed a shade of indigo while the weft thread is left natural. The ribbed side of the denim is on the inside of the pant while the predominately dyed side is the front of the pant. The mixture of the dyed thread and the natural thread is how the classic denim look is created.
