ফিরে এসেছে বাঙ্গালীর প্রাচীন ঐতিহ্যর জামদানী নতুন সাজে আপনাদের মাজে। আপনারা কি জানেন জামদানীর ইতিহাস।

জামদানি কার্পাস তুলা দিয়ে প্রস্তুত একধরনের সূক্ষ্ম বস্ত্র। প্রাচীনকানের মিহি মসলিন কাপড়ের উত্তরাধিকারী হিসেবে জামদানি শাড়ি বাঙ্গালী নারীদের অতি পরিচিত। মসলিনের উপর নকশা করে জামদানি কাপড় তৈরি করা হয়। জামদানি বলতে সাধারণত‍ঃ শাড়িকেই বোঝান হয়। তবে জামদানি দিয়ে নকশী ওড়না, কুর্তা, পাগড়ি, রুমাল, পর্দা প্রভৃতিও তৈরি করা হত। ১৭০০ শতাব্দীতে জামদানি দিয়ে নকশাওয়ালা শেরওয়ানির প্রচলন ছিল। এছাড়া, মুঘল নেপালের আঞ্চলিক পোষাক রাঙ্গার জন্যও জামদানি কাপড় ব্যবহৃত হত।
