Wij zoeken de gezichten van onze nieuwe kindercollectie.

Op zaterdag 26 en woensdag 30 september houdt The House of Vankets een casting voor kinderen die hun eerste communie of lentefeest vieren. Geen ervaring nodig, geen kostuum, geen voorbereiding. Verlegen mag. Jij blijft er als ouder de hele tijd bij.

Zo gaat het: je kind loopt één keer de catwalk, heen en terug, en wij maken enkele proeffoto's. Tien minuten, op een tijdstip dat je zelf kiest. 's Avonds maken wij de selectie bekend. Daarnaast geeft ons creatieve team één wildcard aan een kind dat ons raakt, ook zonder de hoogste score.

Deelnemen kost niets, en er wordt achteraf niets verkocht. Geen fotopakket, geen abonnement. Wij zoeken gewoon de kinderen die onze collectie gaan dragen.

Kan je er niet bij zijn? Laat je kind dan zijn of haar droomjurk of droompak tekenen. Uit alle tekeningen kiezen wij er één en maken wij het ontwerp echt, in ons eigen atelier, op maat van het kind dat het bedacht. Het tekenblad staat op de pagina.

Stephanie & Robby,

What a weekend. What a story. And what a privilege to have been a small part of something so incredibly special.

From the very first ideas and fabrics, to a sparkling pre-wedding disco night, and finally to the moment Stephanie walked down the aisle in a creation made especially for her… every chapter had its own energy, emotion and magic.

Stephanie, thank you for trusting me with your dream. Being able to translate your personality, your wishes and this unforgettable setting into something that became completely yours is exactly why I still love what I do so much.

And to both of you: thank you for welcoming me into your wedding weekend, not only as a designer, but also as a friend. Seeing everything come together — the mountains, the colours, the laughter, the party, the ceremony, the little details and all those unforgettable moments — was simply magical.

Because for me, couture has never only been about creating a beautiful dress. It is about listening, imagining, creating and becoming part of a story that will be remembered for a lifetime.

A journey to Paris is never just about the destination.

From the moment we stepped onto the Eurostar, this trip was about looking forward — discovering new directions, meeting inspiring people and collecting the details that will eventually become part of something new.

At Texworld, conversations opened doors to future possibilities. At Première Vision, fabrics, colours, textures, labels and finishes offered a first glimpse of what the seasons ahead might feel like. Some discoveries are immediately exciting; others quietly stay in your mind until the right collection begins to take shape.

And somewhere between appointments, inspiration and business, there was Paris itself. A lunch at Costes. An afternoon at Place Vendôme. Those small moments when you leave the fair behind for a while and simply absorb the city.

Because creativity doesn’t only happen behind a drawing table.

It happens in conversations.
In materials you unexpectedly touch.
In a colour you suddenly see differently.
In the atmosphere of a city.
And sometimes simply by getting away long enough to look at things with fresh eyes.

Paris, you were fruitful, inspiring and full of possibilities.

Now back to Belgium — with new ideas, new connections and quite a few things already taking shape for what comes next.

Au revoir Paris.

Voor Mister Gay Belgium 2026 Ben Scheelen mocht ik persoonlijk de sjerp ontwerpen die dit bijzondere moment mee vormgeeft. Een uniek ontwerp van Nicky Vankets, exclusief gerealiseerd door The House of Vankets en volledig op maat van Ben en zijn verhaal.

Kleur, symboliek, detail en vakmanschap kwamen samen in een creatie die niet alleen gedragen wordt, maar ook iets vertelt.

Ben, van harte proficiat met deze prachtige titel. Draag hem met trots, overtuiging en vooral helemaal als jezelf.
