Totems Afrikaraïbes est une matrice vivante, initiée par Lylly Houngnihin, curatrice et historienne de l’art vodun. C’est un lieu d’ancrage et d’élan, où mémoire, économie, esthétique et pensée critique résonnent. Nous assumons l’héritage de nos totems et choisissons de transformer leur philosophie en une énergie créatrice capable d’éclairer l’avenir.
Dans un monde traversé par des mutations profondes et par la recherche de nouveaux repères, nous affirmons l’urgence de réinventer nos propres référentiels philosophiques, culturels, esthétiques, technologiques, économiques.
Fidèles à la dignité de nos mémoires, audacieux face aux futurs possibles, nous inscrivons notre engagement dans le chaos poétique de la cartographie mouvante et puissante de l’Atlantique noir.
Notre point de départ est simple, et essentiel : reconnaître aux territoires de l’Atlantique noir leur légitimité narrative et créatrice. Là où nos mémoires et nos archives ont été longtemps réduites au silence, nous affirmons qu’elles constituent au contraire des fondations du présent et des leviers d’innovation pour le futur.
Soyinka, Hampâté Bâ, Kourouma, Frankétienne… leurs voix nous rappellent que la pensée n’est pas une abstraction mais une action, que la culture n’est pas un ornement mais une puissance, et que la parole archivée peut bel et bien être une matrice d’avenir.

It is both a ground of anchoring and a momentum for elevation, where memory, economy, aesthetics and critical thought resonate. In a world shaken by profound mutations and the search for new bearings, we affirm the urgency of reinventing our own aesthetic, philosophical, economic, technological and cultural frameworks.
Faithful to the dignity of our memories, daring in the face of possible futures, we place our commitment within the poetic chaos of the shifting, powerful cartography of the Black Atlantic.
Our starting point is simple, yet essential: to recognize the narrative and creative legitimacy of the territories of the Black Atlantic. Where our memories and archives were silenced for too long, we affirm instead that they are the very foundations of the present and the levers of innovation for tomorrow.
