You know I will always be honest about how I feel.

Some days, I dislike the fact that I have no breasts. I can be grateful to be alive and still grieve what cancer and surgery changed about my body. Both feelings can be true at the same time.

I know my breasts do not define my womanhood. But knowing that doesn’t mean I never struggle with what I see or miss what I had.

I’m sharing this because healing doesn’t mean pretending every day is easy. Some days, I’m strong. Some days, I’m still learning to be gentle with myself. And today, I want to be honest about one of those harder feelings.

One of the moments I keep coming back to from The Season of Fire book launch is this panel conversation.

An advanced reader, Dr. Agatha Mackey, and I talked about how changes in a woman’s body can affect the way she feels about herself and her relationships. These are deeply personal things, and hearing them discussed so openly in that room meant a great deal to me.

I’m sharing a little of our question-and-answer conversation today. If this part of the journey has felt hard to put into words, I hope you know you’re not alone. 💜

In this video, Dr. Markey highlights the value of the daily tracker included in The Season of Fire and how helpful it can be for both women and their doctors in understanding what has been happening over time.

One of the intentions behind The Season of Fire is to help women put language around what they have been experiencing, notice patterns in their own bodies, and walk into conversations with their doctors better prepared to explain what has been happening.

That practical support sits alongside the deeper conversations in the book around identity, relationships, intimacy, confidence, and becoming.

I entered menopause without fully understanding how deeply it could affect my body, emotions, identity, marriage and everyday life.
