Black Mask Greeting Card & Gifts

Black Mask Greeting Card & Gifts Handprocessing, carding, spinning, naturally dyeing Klondike wool.Specializing in custom crochet I love the process, from start to finish!

The company was started as an extension of my crafting obsession. When I first moved to Dawson City, I was introduced to the world of quilting. From there I expanded into paper crafts, making cards and invitations, and then I started crocheting again, something my mother taught me when I was young. I started with basic cotton dishcloths and then migrated into wool hats, mittens, socks, and sweater

s, specializing in custom orders. Through an article online about the lost art of farm to clothing process, I was able to connect with a local sheep farmer, who offered me some raw fleece to try. . . Since then I have taught myself, with the help of online resources, to handprocess the wool, from skirting the fleece, picking and washing, carding and spinning the wool into yarn. As you can imagine, black and white fleece gets a little boring. . . so I dove into the world of natural dyes, which works well with my gardening passion, though my husband keeps asking, "is that edible?".

Started skirting this mammoth fleece today. Top side looks daunting, flipped it over to see the underside and let the vegetable matter fall off through the slats in my skirting table.
Spent 2 hours on it today, lots more to do. . .
