More quilts all ready for next month! This is definitely going to be a quilt-heavy show for me. Haha!

These are whole-cloth quilt tops that I design, have printed and then quilt. They are abstract, but each one is inspired by a song and these two are “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and “You Spin Me Round.”

I’ll see you soon, Picton!

I’m bringing a bunch of my song-inspired wholecloth quilts to as well! These two are “ABC” and “The Circle Game.”

I haven’t made these in a while, so it was fun to work on them again. They make for great baby quilts or wall hangings!

I don’t usually have many off-cuts from my quilts, but I had quite a few scrappy pieces leftover from the lobster bib I recently made (so many design changes!). So I decided to piece them together, improv style, and this is the result!

Everything in this quilt, including the batting, binding and thread, is made of scrap. My designs tend to be pretty exacting and they require a lot of math, so this was a freeing experience, creatively. And it felt really good to use up what I had.

I’ll be bringing this scrappy guy with me to next month!

Quilt details:

100% cotton and linen
Machine pieced and quilted
Hand-sewn binding

Another class in the books! And just look at these gorgeous quilts (and beaming smiles). Most of these students had not used a sewing machine in years and now they’re quilters. I can’t wait to see what they sew next!

This isn’t exactly Easter/Passover-related, but I finished a quilt top today! I designed it years ago and I’m so happy to have finally made it.

It’s inspired by some tiles that I spotted on Pinterest (I think). I used them to create a layout of 12-inch blocks. Then I added narrow strips between the blocks (kind of like grout) so the shapes and colours wouldn’t blend in together.

The two green solids are Juniper and Pickle (I’m obsessed!), which I found at

I have some extra blocks (thanks to sizing mistakes 😬), which I plan to incorporate in the backing so nothing goes to waste.

When .the.artist invited me to contribute to the “Surf and Turf” exhibit at , I had to think for a moment. What the heck would I create? Maybe a sunset piece? Or a field? A combo of the two? Then the idea of a giant quilted lobster bib popped into my head and I was all in.

This was so much fun to create (and I think it counts as my first piece of quilted clothing 😆). I used the font I designed to spell out surf ‘n turf (turf is upside down). Then I incorporated a minimalist lobster and bull into the font.

I’ve really been into pop-art lately, so I’m guessing that’s how I came up with the idea. It took me awhile to figure out how to make it look less like an apron and more like a bib. After lots of math, graph-paper sketches and alterations, this was the result.

I’ve entitled it “Fine Dining” and I can’t wait to see all the other amazing pieces displayed at for this show.

Thank you, Julianna, for giving me the space and encouragement to stretch myself and my art!

’s March Break camp was a wonderful week of creativity! These kids always amaze me with their willingness to try new things and to just let their imaginations run wild.

Of course, I’m nursing a post-camp cold today, but it was well worth seeing all these happy faces so proud of everything they made.

And that’s a wrap! My first full quilt class at finished last night and I hope these smiles say it all. Just look at their beautiful quilts! It’s hard to believe our six session are done, and I’m going to miss this wonderful crew. Now that they’ve caught the quilting bug, I can’t wait to see what they create next!

For anyone who would like to join my next class at the end of March, I’ll include a link in my stories. You can also find it on ’ website.

Thank you so much to these amazing students who were willing to learn alongside me!
