June is a month bursting with meaning, reflection, celebration, and awareness. 🌈
At Portside Clothing Co., we want to recognize the launch of Pride Season and Pride Month, celebrating love, inclusion, identity, and the importance of creating safe and welcoming spaces for everyone.
Portside Clothing Co. is, and always will be, a safe and welcoming place for all — hate has no home here. ❤️🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
June is also a time to honour and recognize National Indigenous History Month, Italian Heritage Month, Filipino Heritage Month, and Portuguese Heritage Month. These observances remind us of the many cultures, histories, and communities that help shape who we are as Canadians.💕🍁
We must also bring awareness to National PTSD Awareness Month & Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month. These are reminders to lead with compassion, check in on one another, and recognize that many people carry things we may not always see. ❤️🩹🫂
Men’s mental health often goes unaddressed due to stigma and emotional suppression.
Key statistics highlight the need for awareness:
- men are four times more likely to die by su***de,
account for nearly 75% of all su***de deaths in Canada,
and are significantly less likely to seek professional help.
- Subpopulations at Risk:
- Indigenous men face disproportionately higher
rates of suicidal ideation and attempts.
- Sexual and gender minority men (e.g., gay,
bisexual) are up to six times as likely to
experience suicidal ideation compared to
heterosexual men.
To learn more or get involved in advocacy, check out the Canadian Men's Health Foundation or the Mental Health Commission of Canada.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, support is available. In Canada, you can call or text 988 to reach the Su***de Crisis Helpline.

Fun fact: They say it takes about 17 muscles to smile and around 43 to 47 muscles to frown — so really, kindness is just more energy efficient. 😉
Here’s to a June filled with kindness, respect, awareness, community, and fewer unnecessary face workouts. 💙
