After several consecutive years of listening to me say that the Main Street shop will open soon in...a couple of weeks...a month...next summer...by Christmas..., well, we have finally done it!

Renamed 596 Main Vintage, this is my mother's personal collection of vintage and antique clothing, jewellery and curios. It features a beautiful interior layout shaped specifically for the display of 100% vintage and antique pieces.

The backyard boutique will be open when staff is available. Currently everything back there is cash only, priced to sell, and, as always, open to negotiations.

🧹🌱🧹 EARLY SPRING CLEANING 🧹🌱🧹

Over the next couple of weekends I am clearing out our backyard boutique.

Stock upstairs is 50% OFF; STOCK downstairs is 20% OFF. As always we include the 14% HST in our prices.

While operational hours have been somewhat hindered by the weather, we still try to be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noonish to 4 p.m. if both the weather and the path up to the building are clear.

I found this treasure from the late 40s -1950s in my barn. It has some fun snippets of controversies of the time and includes newspaper clippings of a recurring section titled, "Learn to Know Your Province" (from The Chronicle Herald perhaps?). The scrapbooker cut out the NS Tourism photo and the accompanying article introducing readers to the history and highlights of the place.
How many of these spots do you recognize?

Thermoset plastics were moulded into little shapes for jewellery in the1940s and 1950s and set in silver and gold metal plate settings. Sometimes designers added pearlization and glitter to add a soft romantic or sparkly festive flair.
