Scotland will be my 16th country by bike!
Heading out mid-May. Supposedly that’s one of the drier times to ride… but it’s Scotland, so..

I’ll be landing in Glasgow and heading toward the Isle of Skye, where my family is from, which makes this trip feel even more personal. They arrived 6 generations ago!

A few years ago I spent a month cycling across Ireland, following my family history. We’re pretty disconnected from our European heritage over here so it was really special.

I’m looking forward to the castles, stone circles, scotch, sheep, and the kind of roads that make you slow down and look around.

IDEAS…..?
On one of my France rides, I spent time working at a biodynamic vineyard, and I’d love to do something similar here—maybe spend time helping at a distillery, learning more about sheep farming, or joining any hands-on local project along the way.

If anyone in Scotland has a connection to a farm, distillery, or interesting project I could visit or participate in, send it my way.

Where should i bike?
What should i check out?

Only a couple more days until Halloween! One of my favourite holidays. Cycling when it's cool, wearing a cape, maybe some horns...who knows. What's your cycling costume all about?

If you followed my bike packing journey in Lesotho, Africa, last year, you may have been one of the many donors who contributed to supporting kids graduate high school and "Cross the finish line"! 26 in total.
It's hard to understand the impact of how a couple bucks can change a life, so here's one such story to put it in perspective.
A special thanks to Help Lesotho for enabling this project so we could make a real difference in peoples lives. They're busy with so many helpful programs already but partnered to administer the funds we collected. Keep up the good work you guys!

Last year, in honour of Dr. Peg Herbert's retirement, her son Jesse embarked on an inspiring journey in Lesotho. Biking for 10 days through rural and mountainous terrain, raising funds to pay for students high school exam fees. Altogether, 26 students were able to completing their final year of high school. Here is the story of just one!

Hlampola is a determined 17-year-old recent graduate of Khethisa High School. Before sponsorship, Hlampolo was constantly worried about how he would cover his school fees. Cared for primarily by his grandparents, Hlampola’s family was only able to contribute very little towards his education.

With the gift of sponsorship, Hlampola was able to stop worrying about paying his school fees and instead used his energy on studying. He is a bright young man with dreams of attending college and pursuing medical studies in South Africa!
