Alo Double Take Short Sleeve review: this is the softest tee I’ve tested so far. Micro French terry feels premium, but the fit is still boxy—because it’s oversized on purpose. I’m testing tees to find comfort and a cleaner shape… which is why I started this series (and why I created one).

Meet The XL Tee. The XL fit that finally looks right—clean collar, better shape, better drape.

I’m 6’0, 220 and most XL tees flare at the waist. This one stays clean.

Premium details. Boxy fit. Short length.
Reigning Champ OG Tee (235 GSM) — wanted to love it, but the proportions are off for me.

Would you wear SKIMS… for men? I tried the relaxed heavyweight tee (L). Collar is amazing + it feels premium, but it’s boxy at the waist with no stretch, so it sits stiff. Oversized look = yes. Sharper silhouette = maybe not.

If you wear an XL, here’s my quick take on the Adidas Originals tee in XL. This one actually fits pretty good. The 70/30 cotton-poly blend helps it drape cleaner than the super boxy 100% cotton tees. It’s a little tight in the chest, and the waist is looser—but not in that “rectangle” way. No elastane, so it doesn’t have much give, but overall this is one of the better XL fits I’ve tried.

This is the problem with most t-shirts if you work out: they fit your shoulders and chest… and then the waist turns you into a box. I tried the Vuori Heavyweight Cotton Tee (Relaxed Fit) and at $102 I expected a more dialed silhouette. It’s comfy and feels premium, but the bottom half goes straight and wide, which kills the V-taper and makes you look wider than you are. Verdict: great if you want relaxed and roomy… not the move if you lift and care about shape.

I love Nike… but The Nike Tee in XL is not it. The shape has basically no taper, so the sides flare out and it makes you look wider than you actually are — it seriously kills your V-taper. And when I squeeze the fabric, it doesn’t bounce back… it just stays bunched up, so the shirt holds that boxy shape instead of draping clean. It’s 100% cotton, so there’s no stretch to help it settle. Verdict: if you like a straight, roomy fit, you’ll be fine… but if you want a clean XL silhouette with taper, this isn’t the move.

Let’s be honest about who this shirt is actually for. The Zanerobe Flintlock is made for tall, skinny guys — that long draped look works when the fabric falls straight down. But if you’ve got a thick chest, broad shoulders, or any real mass, this cut is rough: tight up top (100% cotton, zero stretch), then loose down low with an elongated tail that throws your proportions off.

Verdict: longline streetwear vibe ✅ for slim builds… not XL-friendly ❌

This is one of the softest tees I’ve tried. Banana Republic Luxury-Touch T-Shirt in XL — 100% cotton, super smooth, and I actually like the split hems.

The issues for XL frames: length runs short, sleeves are short, collar is thin, and with no stretch it doesn’t give you any snap-back when you move.

Verdict: insanely soft ✅ but if you want XL coverage + structure, not the move.
