POOL SAFETY 💦☀️ We love going swimming to beat the summer heat, but it’s so important to keep in mind how quickly an emergency can arise around water. Here are some quick reminders about water safety to ensure you and your little ones stay safe! 💕
👀 Always make sure there is ONE designated adult actively supervising the kids around water. Often when ‘everybody’ is watching, no one is watching. Take turns and ensure the designated adult is free of distractions. This applies to whenever kids are around water, not just when they’re IN the pool. ⚠️Drownings often happen during times when caregivers had not even planned for kids to be swimming (like lunch time).
🚸 Young children need to be within arms reach at all times. Adults sometimes think if a child is drowning they’ll hear calls for help or see lots of splashes, but children can quickly and silently slip under the surface. Drowning can happen in as a little as 30 seconds. Make sure you’re always right there.
💦Pools should be fenced on all sides, and when not in use, covered and free of toys or other objects that may attract a child’s attention.
