County Weddings Creating beautiful one-of-a-kind weddings, commitment and renewal of vows ceremonies - each one, an original work of art. Sonia Beverley

Welcome to County Weddings for Weddings - Commitment - Renewal of Vows Ceremonies. One-of-a-kind Ceremony Design:

It is important to County Weddings that your ceremony be deeply meaningful to you and reflect your uniqueness. Your ceremony may include aspects of traditional weddings, rituals from more than one culture and/or religion, new rituals created just for you, symbols from your history tog

ether or of your desired future, and elements that honour your beliefs or philosophy of life, your history together, your identities, your children, your families, your interests. Your ceremony may be spiritual without being religious; meaningful without being spiritual. It is your ceremony – it is not for anyone else. I will design it to happen in a garden or a park, at the beach or your favourite nature spot, in an elegant inn or winery, in your living room or back yard, on a boat … as you wish. I am happy to hike or kayak or boat to get to the venue – but clothing is required although shoes are optional! Celebrant/Licensed Officiant:

I adore love stories and I believe relationships are the most precious and powerful forces in our lives. Creating beautiful weddings, commitment and renewal of vows ceremonies, and officiating at them, is how I contribute positively to our world. I do wedding ceremonies of all kinds, for couples of any age and orientation, always being respectful your beliefs and wishes. A commitment to an intimate long-term relationship is both sacred and life changing. As a Life-Cycle Celebrant, I will join with you to celebrate your story of becoming a couple and mark your making of this promise. I will design a one-of-a kind ceremony for you and offer so much more. I invite you to explore how we might work together for your perfect ceremony. Our first phone meeting and subsequent face-to-face exploratory meeting are completely free, with no obligation on your part.

It's been an amazing summer of weddings! Too busy creating and writing such different and interesting ceremonies to keep up with FB - poor excuse but true. Fun Fall ones happening too. Heartfelt thanks to all the amazing couples who chose me to be their Celebrant! I love this work!

Just chosen by a fun-loving couple to do a wedding that will be a total surprise for all family and friends attending - their way of focusing on their love and not on the peripherals usually involved with a wedding - and of saving guests the expense of gifts, etc! Cool couple! Will be a fun, heartfelt ceremony!

Nature loving couples choose outdoor weddings in Prince Edward County - at least those who contact me to be their officiant. We agree that the natural beauty of nature provides a sacred space for their sacred commitment.

The celebrant profession, relatively new in North America, has been well established in Australia for more than 40 years!
The following advice from Australia's Modern Wedding Blog's post "Wedding Ceremony 101" (Oct. 2012) is timeless and right on:

"Your wedding ceremony makes a statement about your love and commitment and the reasons you and your fiancé have chosen each other as life partners. It's the most public and symbolic personal moment you may ever have, and thus it's very important to get it right. There's absolutely no reason to conform to ideas about the way a wedding ceremony should be if that's just not you. Be as creative and flexible as you wish, and your wedding ceremony will be original and moving. Best of all it will be memorable, because it was as unique as you are."

We, professional Canadian celebrants, are committed to this!

I have been contemplating ritual. It is central to ceremonies such as weddings and is a fascinating subject. So, I have started a mini blog series to get us talking about it. Check it out and join the conversation! http://countyweddings.ca/ritual-lets-talk-about-it/

Sonia Beverley talks about the loss of meaning of ritual as a valuable, universal aspect of human social existence.

Field of Dreams! Weddings mark the end of one dream and the beginning of so many more. Hidden seeds are nurtured by love, respect, kindness and the sharing of two lives. Who knows what they will grow into. Potential and possibility at its fullest!

It is wonderful that same s*x couples enjoy the right to marry in Canada. It seems so reasonable and is becoming more and more "ordinary" - but as this article reminds us, it is still very new in the western world, e.g. UK. We still have a long way to go - but cudos to Canada for being an early adopter.
