So, I’ve been really busy lately with a really affirming load of client work for my graphic design business over at .creative and I just want you to know about it! Fifth Smalls is absolutely still a passion project for me, I’m absolutely still making stuff and taking quilt service orders and sewing when I can, but am just doing SO much digital stuff right now, like this abstract banjo-playing heron for example. Clever artists would blend the two accounts, but that is simply not my style (simplification).

I never shared this piece I did back in November/December! I think because it was a quilted piece but also was originally commissioned for album art purposes, my nugget brain didn’t know whether to post it here or to my art and design account .creative .

This one of a kind wall hanging is lucky enough to be owned by and that makes me happy.

Finally, an upcycled quilt coat we can all agree on.

I feel really confident in this baby/toddler coat pattern now that the *extremely cute* prototype is done! Expect many tiny quilt coats posted here in the future, they're as cozy as they are adorable.

All parts of this one-of-one coat are thrifted, including the yellow binding and the incredible red buttons! The quilt I used was a ridiculously simple one (it was possibly even manufactured?), no great-grandmother's vintage heirlooms were harmed here!

Giving new life to old materials is a tradition all its own, and I'm so glad to carry that on in my work. Scroll through to see the process!

This particular coat has a home it's destined for, but it won't be the last that I make. Have any quilts you'd like made into something else? Let me help you out! Want to remake your quilts into clothes on your own? I'd still like to help! Questions and project ideas can be directed to my DMs!

Trying to make some room in the studio! 20% off of all old stock of yarn and gift wraps, pick up a rustic thin-and-thick skein like this mint Corriedale wool and make yourself an excellent hat.

This yarn has plenty of variation and texture, knitting up with a rustic, squishy drape. FIBRE: 100% Corriedale Wool YARDAGE: approx. 103m WEIGHT: Super Bulky COLOURWAY: Mint Weight: 3.70 ounces (104 grams) Due to the variations in monitors and browsers, actual colours may vary. The yarn ships

I mean, they were available this whole time but now there's an actual section on my website!

I will definitely have to work on a "first come, first served" basis with quilt projects just because of how involved they are and how much I like to have on the go at one time. Also, because quilts are literally huge and bulky and my house is cute and meek and mild and can only hold so many quilts at one time. I'm sure you understand.

Head to my linktree in my bio for my website and to see my new Quilting Services section! Maybe you need a whole custom quilt made or you just want help with putting the binding on an almost-done-for-like-4-years-now quilt to get it over and done with. Read through what I offer and see if it matches what you need! You don't have to be a Smiths Falls local, we just have to get crafty with the back-and-forth.

Get yourself a $20 consultation with me to get the ball rolling on your project! I'm so excited to help you.

Hi folks, I'm Jaymie!
Just thought I would post a timely autumn photo to dispel the February yucks.

As always, my partner and creative comrade takes beautiful photos and makes the unshowered and homely look...better than that.

All colours will be revealed on Friday, I promise!

I made a whole lot of these fabric gift wraps in hopes to put them up for the holiday season but had quite a few bad-brain days in a row leading up to it and just couldn't muster it.

Rosalyn gave me the incredible idea (among several others) to also post a set of instructions on my website on how to actually use these wraps to create a beautiful gift! I forget sometimes that not everyone has communed with fabric as intensively as I have and don't simply know how it works.

So, not only will my hand spun yarn be listed on the store this Friday, but so will these reusable gift wraps!

Watch my stories for a super cool and edgy discount code at checkout to get 22% off!

Or honestly just download the PDF of furoshiki instructions on my website for free anytime after Friday and then next time you need to wrap a present, find the nearest napkin or fabric scrap and just go for it. Like, these wraps are definitely nice and really pretty but also you can use what you have, I won't tell.

Sometimes, when your brain doesn't work quite normally and you have genuine difficulty with object permanence, you get extremely deep into new work and neglect your old work.

As I start my work on Spring and Summer one-of-a-kind clothing and laying plans for a new series of stitched paintings, I'm haunted by my handspun yarn that wants so badly to be made into something!

This Friday, January 14th, I'll be posting all of my handspun on my website and on my new (and currently empty) Etsy store! Keep watching my stories too, because there will be a promo code to get a hefty percentage off!

If you have recently set an intention to disengage from media and feel more real and grounded, I know for a fact that working with my hands has always kept me going. Let yourself make something real.

Make the gifts that you give this season even more special by wrapping them lovingly with reusable and sustainable cloth gift wraps!
This gift wrapping workshop is at on December 18th from 1:30 to 3pm and is BYOG (bring your own gift) so that you can learn the skills and techniques of Furoshiki and instantly apply them!

Also, you get your own Fifth Smalls gift wrap multi-pack with registration! You could even just give that away as a gift instead of using it yourself to wrap your presents!

Head to the Arts Hub website to find out more and to register.

I decided to stop keeping these skeins all to myself! I have lots of other work I want to make available online but these are ready to go TODAY!

I love everything about this yarn. I love that it's wool, but that it's also washable and won't fuss like natural fibres often can. I love the colours on their own and love even more the fact that they were developed with foraged materials. I love that the skeins are squishy and soft while still giving a lofty and strong wool texture that knits up really beautifully.

To be clear, I did not spin this yarn! It is a Knit Picks undyed yarn made from Peruvian wool that I dyed.

Click the link in my bio or Google Fifth Smalls if you would like some yarn for yourself or for a very giftable gift!
