I will be demoing the stitches from my heart piece with TFAM at the 2025 Manitoba Fibre Festival Friday 6:15 to 7:15pm and Saturday 12:30 to 1:30pm

Artist statement:
Internal peace is acceptance. Naming and accepting what you are resisting gives way to peace and clarity. It gives you the ability to focus your energies and take action. Each stitch is a practice in the acceptance of what a moment brings, in allowing acceptance to calm your soul.

Materials/technique:
Machine improv quilting - white duchess satin main body (polyester)
Hand quilted running stiches - quilting and embroidery thread (cotton)
Triple piped trim finish - ivory duchess satin (polyester) green (dupioni silk)
Quilt batting inner layer (cotton)

Exhibit statement: Making art, caring and trusting maintains our inner peace in a world of turmoil and hard times. Definition of Peace: Freedom from disturbance; tranquility; a state or period of which there is no war or a war has ended. Used as a friendly greeting; used as an order to remain silent.

Again or still, we find ourselves, in this world of turmoil, negativity, noise, banter or just plain nonsense. Intentional or not, many of us look for peace in the activities we do or in the people we spend time with. How do you maintain peace in your life? Is it a ritual that gets you to that space or place of peace? What is the deep meaning of peace to you?

A custom order I made for Grad 2025

That’s a wrap for Grad 2025. So many sparkles this year that at times the floor beneath my feet became crunchy in my sewing room! The first 10 dresses I’ve altered mostly shortening straps, hemming length and taking in.

What kind of work am I doing this winter?
Wedding, bridesmaids and grad dress alterations.
Please note, if you need a grad dress altered for June, April is cut off. For weddings I ask 4 months in advance during peak season March to September.
Pant hems, taking in letting out most things until Grad/wedding season gets too busy
Drapery hemming.
Work that I am no longer doing? Winter coat zippers, upholstery and working on items that have pet hair on them.
