My grandmother built her life in the markets of Guyana.

She passed that knowledge down to her children — including my mom.

Years later, my parents brought that same spirit of entrepreneurship to Toronto, opening shops in Kensington Market.

I grew up surrounded by it.

And without realizing it, I was being shaped by something that started generations before me.

Listening to my grandma’s story, I’m reminded that everything I know about business started long before me.

My grandmother built her life in the markets of Georgetown and taught her children how to do the same.

That knowledge was passed down through generations, eventually shaping the way I built my own store.

Dulari is a continuation of that story.

My grandmother, Ramdulari, worked on the sugar cane plantations in Guyana.

She is the granddaughter of indentured labourers who were brought from India by the British.

There was no formal education, no roadmap — just resilience, survival, and the determination to build a life for her family.

This is where our story begins.

Dear friends,
It’s with a full heart that I share some big news:
I’ll be closing down Shop Sol’s Queen St. location. Visit us from 12:30-7pm until May 10th.❤️

This decision came quickly, but it was led by a deep inner voice telling me it’s time to take a step back. After years of pouring myself into this little shop, I’m choosing to take a pause, rest, and reflect on what’s next.
This isn’t goodbye forever — you’ll still be able to shop online, and I’ll pop up at local markets from time to time. I’ll keep you in the loop on Instagram and through our newsletter.💌

Thank you for supporting this dream of mine. I am forever grateful for the connections I have made with each of you during my time on Queen St. Your love and connection have meant the world.
Come for a final visit to the shop during regular hours until May 10 — I’d love to see you before I close the doors on this chapter.

Our community is growing🤗! To all of my new followers, welcome! Thank you for supporting my page. Since you are new here I would like to share some short facts about myself and my business :)

About me:

* My name is Sandhyaa but many people call me Sun🌞
* I am 28 years old
* I’m first generation Canadian. Both my parents are Guyanese🇬🇾
* I’m a July cancer baby ♋️
* I’ve been a vegetarian since I was born 🌱
* I started powerlifting when I was 19. I’ve been lifting ever since but strength is no longer my focus🏋🏽‍♀️
* I love food, travel, dancing, singing and being by the ocean ❤️

About my business:
* I started my business in 2020 but I’ve been learning the business since I was 16
* My first location was in Kensington market. I had to close because the landlord was selling the building.
* I opened my Queen St location June of 2022.
* I travel to Thailand, India and Peru sourcing boho pieces 🌎
* Working with sustainable and natural materials is a must ✅
* All of our pieces support small businesses❤️
