Think of a tech pack as the architectural blueprint for your garment.
An architect doesn't hand a builder a pretty photo and say "make this."
They hand over exact measurements, materials, and structural notes.
Your garment deserves the same precision.

Without a tech pack, factories are left guessing and guesswork at scale gets expensive fast.

Most people look at this garment and see a graphic.
As industry experts, we look at it and see three separate production decisions.

● Glitter Transfer (The frame outline)
Premium finish, applied under heat and pressure.

● Plastisol-Based Screen Print (The illustrated scene and bold script)
High-opacity, durable, and built for volume.

● Soft-Hand Water-Based Print (The cursive text)
Minimal ink deposit, a matte feel, and blends seamlessly into the fabric.

Each technique has a different application method, cost structure, and a unique durability profile. When combined intentionally, they elevate a basic tee into something consumers actually want to wear.

This is why print planning happens before production. Not during it.

One decision can push your entire launch back by 8 weeks. Most first-time apparel founders don't find out until it's too late.

It's not your design. It's not your factory. It's your fabric.

Here's what the material sourcing timeline actually looks like , and why booking early is critical.

Textile mills operate on forward schedules. The premium fabrics such as, GOTS-certified organic cotton, recycled polyester blends, performance jersey aren't sitting in a warehouse waiting for your order.

They're produced in runs, for buyers who reserved capacity weeks or months in advance. Walk in without a booking? You're choosing from leftovers.

What late material booking actually costs you

● Delays of 6–10 weeks minimum while you wait for the next mill run

● Substitute fabrics that change your garment's fit, drape, and feel

● Re-sampling costs because the construction specs need updating

● A shifted launch window which leads right into a competitor's drop

At Kloth Source, we initiate material sourcing during the sampling stage, not after. By the time your sample is approved, your fabric is already allocated. Production starts on schedule. Your launch date holds.

Our clients, especially first-time founders don't experience the "where is my fabric" panic that's become standard in this industry. Your garment is only as good as what it's made from.

Book the material. Protect the timeline.

Most founders think apparel manufacturing looks like: Design → Factory → Done.
The reality is a lot more complex. Let's break it down into 5 clear stages:

Stage 1: Technical Design & Sampling
Your concept becomes a comprehensive tech pack. Samples are produced, reviewed, and revised until the fit and construction are perfect.

Stage 2: Sourcing & Pre-Production
Once the product and transparent costings are finalized, greige fabrics are milled, trims and accessories are sourced, and factory capacity allocated.

Stage 3: Bulk Production
Fabrics are cut, printed, bundled, and moved into the sewing lines. Smooth production requires continuous, on-the-floor monitoring to manage line balancing and ensure every single piece adheres to the tech pack.

Stage 4: Quality Control
Quality isn't just checked at the end, it's built-in. Inline inspections catch construction issues early on the sewing floor, followed by a strict quality control and pre-shipment audit to verify the bulk run against the pre-production / golden sample.

Stage 5: Logistics & Delivery
Moving goods from the factory to a warehouse means navigating vessel bookings, customs clearance, and fluctuating tariffs. A true DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) process ensures all freight, duties, and logistics are calculated and managed before the shipment even leaves the port.

Five stages. One partner. Zero middlemen.
This is how Kloth Source simplifies the supply chain.

As you're launching your apparel brand, you'll hear this term constantly -
"Tech Pack" or "Technical Package".

What is a tech pack, and why does it matters.
A tech pack is the production blueprint for your garment.
Think of it like an architect's drawing, but for clothing.
It covers-

● Construction & stitching details.
● Measurements & size grading.
● Fabric specs & material callouts.
● Trims, labels & hardware.
● Print placements & colourways.

Without it factories interpret your design on their own way. And that's where costly errors happen.

The good news! you don't need to have one to start with us. Our team builds your tech pack from scratch. From a sketch, a reference, or even just a brief.

No guesswork. No factory surprises. Just garment built exactly to spec.
