The Anime North Fashion Show showcases styles, designers, fashion communities and individuals of the Anime North community and gives them a stage to showcase their passion. It is first and foremost a platform to promote individuals who are interested in Japanese street fashion and help build their respective communities. It’s a great event for attendees to learn more about different Japanese fashi
ons, photograph awesome unique outfits, and support your fellow con-goers. The fashion show features different styles and aesthetics that are popular in Japan, as well as Anime North. The past Anime North Fashion Show has featured Visual Kei, Kimono, Steampunk, Lo**ta, Gyaru just to name a few. The Fashion Show is always looking for new styles to add and individuals who have a passion for J-fashion! Some more adjacent fashions in Asia that has historical links to Japanese Fashion are Hanbok, Hanfu, South Asian Fashion and Afro Futurism; just to name a few many more. The fashion show consists of two programming sections:
Style Section: Divided into their representative street style, this section aims to educate attendees of the different fashion tribes at Anime North. The models are wearing their personal collections. Designer Section: This section is for brands and designers who'd like a stage to showcase their work. Some of the designers are within the crafter's corner or dealer room and attendees have a chance to purchase their work directly from the con floor! NOTE: All the models and individuals involved with us are unpaid volunteers. The Fashion Show is a fan-run event which doesn't provide any monetary contribution or clothing to our participants. If you aren't familiar with J-fashion or our Fashion Show, we encourage you to come to our fashion show and fashion panels as an attendee to get an idea of how to get involved! In fact, that's how a lot of models on our stage got their start!
