Unwavering Support for the Land of the Upright
Africa’s history often feels like a stormy sea.
There are times of pain, betrayal, and trials,
but also moments where hope, strength, and pride rise again.
When I look back on our journey, I know that, despite everything,
those who persevere and believe in Africa always rise again.
After the assassination of Sankara, Lumumba, Kadhafi, and so many others,
there were times when I thought the spirit of freedom had been broken, that sorrow had buried our dreams.
But deep within me, Sankara’s words have never stopped resonating:
“If you kill me, others like me will be born.”
And today I see it clearly:
the upright never die.
Their energy flows across time, reborn through leaders like Ibrahim Traoré,
who, in my eyes, embodies the courage, dignity, and resilience of Burkina Faso, of Africa, and of its entire diaspora.
For when an individual is rooted in strong values,
they elevate more than themselves, they uplift an entire nation.
The wealth of Burkina Faso is the common heritage of all Burkinabè.
It cannot be stolen, nor bartered away,
for it carries the memory of our ancestors and the hope of generations yet to come.
Today, I see an awakened youth,
informed, connected, unshakable,
a generation that refuses to be deceived,
and chooses to rise and fight for its future,
drawing strength from the networks we have built, and the unity of our voices.
On April 30, 2025, my thoughts will be with Mr. Traoré,
with the people of Burkina Faso, with Mali, with Niger.
Through the great global march, we will declare loud and clear
our support for those reclaiming their sovereignty and dignity.
Our prayers, our collective energies, our deep vibrations, and the living strength of our ancestors will be our shield, our momentum, and our flame.
Is it a crime to want to improve the lives of one’s people with their own riches?
