🧸 11 month old Favorite Things 🧸

📸 1. saucer - we put Oakes’ in here while we cook dinner and it is so good! Keeps him happy the whole time, and I love that it’s not too “busy” and overstimulating like some exersaucers.

📸 2. play mat - it’s aesthetic (win for us lol) and perfect for him to play on AND This inflatable fish play thing - which was a random find! We used it to help with tummy time when Oakes’ was little and were surprised to see that he LOVES this thing even now.

📸 3. my first chair - okay I may love this thing more than he does, but it’s so perfect in our living room and I love that it is embroidered with his name! AND sleepers! I have a lot of bamboo brand sleepers for Oakes, but this one is just the best. I love the looser fit and even our nanny and Alex have said this is their favorite! Clearly I need more! # gifted

📸 4. play kits! We get these every 2 months and honestly they are the only toys we need! This new one is the babbler kit and I can’t wait to try it out. # gifted

📸 5. carrier. This has been a godsend for us! Oakes prefers being worn rather than stroller, but our carrier from when he was little was notttt cutting it in terms of back support. This one gives so much support - I can hike with him in this for an hour or more!

📸 6. kitchenware! Now that Oakes is self-feeding we love our mushie plates and bowls. They stick to your high chair / table.

📸 7&8: clothes! Now that Oakes is more of a boy then a baby, I love dressing him in cool clothes. It’s hard to find boy stuff that isn’t all bright color, dinosaur printed lol, and I LOVE the clothes at little bipsy.

📸 9: ! The other pajama brand I love for him is little sleepies. The softest bamboo and designed to last 3x longer than other brands. I can vouch for this since he’s still in size 3-6 months!

8 of the most exhausting, rewarding, life altering, magical months. ✨ As cliche as it sounds, time really does fly by. I can’t believe I have an 8 month old!

Oakland at 8 months is:
• A food connoisseur - goat cheese on baguette being his current favorite food.
• He’s starting to actually play with toys (rather than just put them in his mouth lol)
• He is a giggle machine, and it’s so easy to make him laugh right now!
• He’s got his two bottom teeth 🦷
• He has absolutely zero interest in crawling, but loves to be held in a standing position, or to stand holding on to the edge of the couch

Pro tip to survive rainy winter in YVR - buy yourself hot chocolate ☕️. We’re at for our 3rd date this year and this drink - “The Raincouver” has to be my favorite one ever. It features a cotton candy cloud that “rains” into the hot chocolate as the steam melts the cotton candy!! 🤯⁣

Rooted Growth 🌱 After a lot of reflection and intention setting I’ve landed on my 2023 word (technically, phrase) - rooted growth. ⁣
⁣
Last year was wild - new career, new house, new baby! It was amazing beyond all my dreams, but it was also completely upending and I’m definitely yearning for stability, routine, and structure. That said, I am physically incapable of sitting still (shoutout to my fellow type A’s 👋🏼) and so I still have a ton of goals and dreams for this year. ⁣
⁣
That leads me to rooted growth. I want 2023 to be about putting roots down and feeling settled - especially in my new job which I start back at in April, and in our home and neighbourhood. I want to use those roots to grow - to see our home become our space through renovations and decor, to grow in our new space and enjoy our time with baby Oakes , who is already growing up so fast! ⁣

This Christmas ➡️ Last Christmas.😱 I was 11 weeks pregnant with Oakland and we hadn’t told anyone yet! When I posted that pic 1 year ago today so many of you later told me you were suspicious I was pregnant 🙊. Guess my attempt at posing / hand placement wasn’t as deceptive as I thought it was! 😂 merry Christmas to all of you, and happy Boxing Day!
