There’s a certain kind of quiet you only hear on the road at 2:13 AM.
Engine humming like a tired amp. Dash lights flickering just enough to make you wonder if you’ll make the next town. Coffee’s gone cold somewhere back in the last county. Doesn’t matter.
The guitar’s in the back, case worn through at the corners, stickers half-peeled, stories layered thicker than the dust on the highway.
He’s played rooms where nobody listened.
Bars where the crowd was louder than the band.
One night stands with stages that barely held together. The duct tape was probably stronger then the plywood.
But every now and then, just for a second, everything locks in.
The sound. The room. The feeling.
Like the whole world finally tuned itself to the same frequency.
That’s what keeps him going.
Not the money. Not the miles.
Just that moment.
So he drives.
Through empty towns.
Past broken signs and flickering neon.
Chasing something he can’t quite name, but knows when he feels it.
