🧵 Ankara (also called African Wax Print) originated from a Dutch-Indonesian technique adopted and transformed by West African artisans into something entirely their own.
Today it is one of the most recognisable symbols of African identity worldwide.

🧵 Kente is a hand-woven silk and cotton fabric from the Ashanti people of Ghana, traditionally worn by royalty. Each colour and pattern carries a specific meaning — gold for wealth, purple for femininity and tenderness, green for growth and renewal.

🧵 Batik is a wax-resist dyeing technique that creates the organic, marbled patterns you see on our fabrics.

Each piece is unique — no two are ever identical.
At Ngembaly & House of Ayo, we do not just use these fabrics. We honour them.
