With continued growth in demand for high-purity pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) for the manufacture of polyimides, there is a need for an improved process. In this review, we manufacture PMDA from durene (1,2,4,5-tetramethyl benzene) that promises higher yields, a simpler recovery scheme, and higher product purity, which is important for making high-quality polyimides. We evaluate a process for the v***r-phase oxidation of durene to PMDA based on recent Nippon Shokubai patents that describe improved catalysts and a one-step process for the recovery of high-purity PMDA from the reaction v***r. http://www.jdtechem.com/products_detail/&productId=106.html

The advantage of Thiourea Dioxide uesd as exchange of sodium hydrosulfite as follows
1) It has stronger bleaching power than sodium hydrosulfite
2) It is more convenient than sodium hydrosulfite in operation because it is powder
3) Saving your cost because it is inexpensive when compare with sodium hydrosulfite.
4) It is more safe than sodium hydrosulfite. It can work under lower temperature.
5) There is no poluttion during the operation of Thiourea Dioxide

Thiourea dioxide was used as a precursor for sulfoxylate, SO22−, which is shown to reduce the methyl viologen dication to the fully reduced form, this is the first example of a direct study of the reduction with sulfoxylate; an important advantage of sulfoxylate and its parent compound thiourea dioxide, is their ability to reduce nitrite (the final product being nitrogen) and nitrous oxide in alkaline solutions in the absence of a catalyst.

Thiourea Dioxide must be stored dry and cool.Moisture alone does not initiate exothermic decomposition of TDO ,But it impairs the flowability and causes lumping.
TDO should be stored in a separate room and not in the deinking plant or next to the dosing unit.
TDO decomposes spontaneously at temperatures above 120℃ or when the average storage temperature is higher than 50℃ for a long time. www.jdtechem.com
