Hello and welcome to the Sling Library in Berlin! We are Sarah and Nicole. We are here to promote safe and ergonomic carrying of children.
I'm Sarah and I've been living in Berlin for 4 years now. I have one child who my partner and I have carried since birth. We both fell in love with carrying and the closeness and calmness it gave both us and our child. Babywearing quickly didn't just become for our child, but also for us. I have also fell in love with the different textiles and fabrics, and the different way they each wrap.
I’m Nicole, a huge fan of baby wearing. I have lived in Berlin already for 5 years with my husband, two kids and our furry cat. I started my journey through baby wearing with my oldest daughter in 2014. The time we were living in Taiwan baby carrying wasn’t a thing. However, due to a baby who loved to be hugged I slowly discovered the world of carriers and wraps and instantly felt in love with the possibility of having free hands and a happy baby all at the same time. I carried my daughter all to toddlerhood years but without much support from a community I quickly gave up and transitioned to a pram. This year 2020, we welcomed our son and my love for baby wearing was rekindled. With more knowledge and a stronger community around, I’m determent to explore more possibilities to carry my son longer. We as a family fully enjoying wearing our tiny (not so tiny anymore) baby. Everyday we cuddle while on walks, errands, cleaning, shopping, playing, resting, and much more, which makes us tremendously happy.
We do not profit off the sling library - the money collected is to buy new carrying devices. The time and effort we put in is simply to share with other parents the joy and beauty of carrying your child. To experience the world together.
