🌈 ON HOW I DEFINE MY COLOR SCHEME (believe it or not, it’s not pure chaos!) 🌈

Ok, I love contrasting colors and really bold, counterintuitive color combinations 👽 this goes both for jewellery design and photography.

When I plan my Instagram feed ahead it’s a huge endeavor that I first have to pump myself up for cause everything has to be correctly coordinated! 🕺 every color has to kind of flow with the surrounding pictures and it’s no small fit to achieve that 🤦🏻‍♀️ but this is where I find that colorful frames and text pictures really help me establish an overall structure ❤️💛💚💙

The colors of the frames are also the main colors of my brand that I chose basing on my logo which also happens to be my profile pic 🍑 but here’s a secret: the exact hues are actually some of the standard hues that are available in Adobe Illustrator’s pallet 😅 can’t deny they’re good! 🤷🏻‍♀️

I guess I do have a little bit of a backwards logic problem though cause I decided to write this under the post with my ONLY monochrome design 👽 which is on the website btw 🌸🌸

✨ QUESTION FOR YOU ✨
What’s your favorite color? Do you prefer bright or monochrome jewelry?

💛 ON THE CREATIVE PROCESS (how a bunch of beads turns into ✨something✨) 💛

With the amount of beads that I have stacked on my shelves right now I sometimes find it hard to start a new design. Do you know this feeling, when there are almost too many possibilities? 😅

Anyway, when I feel stuck I usually try to put together a handful of colors that I feel are really counterintuitive as a combination and then exchange them as long as it takes to actually get something I find interesting 👾🤖

Next thing - I open my book of really shabby design sketches and choose an idea to try 🕺 I usually try to use easy techniques that I’m really comfortable with in the long run so that re-making my designs for all your orders can be a nice meditative process going forward 💜

This “Modern Romance” bracelet sure takes several hours to make but it’s a very monotonous, very soothing several hours ✨ And since I’m having A LOT of free hours on my Christmas vacation, these are on the website again ❤️🙆🏻‍♀️💛

But alas, the more I design jewellery, the more I tend to go for insane chaotic designs where I need to write down every single step in order to be able to reproduce it in the future 😵‍💫👽

✨ QUESTION FOR YOU ✨
Tell me about your creative process! What is your favorite part of it?

🌸 ON THE CHAOS OF RING SIZING (if you don’t know it already) 🌸

After a little poll today I realized a lot of people are not sure about their ring size 🥸 and I can’t blame you, it’s honestly not easy to know about it cause it seems like the sizing is so arbitrary 😱

In fact, there are at least 6 sizing scales I personally know of. In Germany ring sizes are measured by the circumference of the finger 🙄 In the UK and Australia they use letters for sizes! In the USA, Japan and France they’re numbers but really, really different scales of numbers! 😵‍💫

So far on my website I offer a sizing table by finger circumference and diameter 👽 you can find the info on how these measurements correspond to ring sizes in the ✨BLOG✨ section of the website! Also, the link to this article is available on any of the ring product pages for easy access 💜❤️💙

However there’s one thing I want to ask you!

👾 QUESTION FOR YOU 👾
Would you like me to add other sizing scales and how they relate to my ring sizes on my website?

🎵 THE HISTORY OF POP STAR (both metaphorically and literally) 🎵

‘Pop Star’ is the name of the necklace I’m wearing in this pic 🕺 it was created out of a random collection of glass beads and is currently on the website 🙆🏻‍♀️❤️

But did you know that music wasn’t always about actual individual people? That it wasn’t always centered about our emotions and inner emotional workings? 👽

Back in the ancient times music was mainly used for one of the two purposes: mystical rituals or praise for warriors and people with power.

It would have been absolutely scandalous to suddenly write a song about how you feel about something that’s going on in your private life 🤖 Also, it would validate personal feelings and make people more aware of their freedom and aspirations. And that is unacceptable for power elites, is it not?

It was through lots of struggle, censorship and rebellion that we came to the point we’re at today: most of our music is performed from the standpoint of a lyrical hero and we not only know the people who make it, but they actually become our Pop Stars ⭐️

🙃 THE FIRST RINGS TO EVER BE MADE (by me) 🙃

When I was just starting to experiment with beads after years and years of pause, I tended to mostly rely on tutorials and schemes I was able to find on the internet and make some kind of beaded charms. It seemed kind of impossible to imagine that someday I would actually be able to use the techniques I’ve learnt to come up with my own designs 🤷🏻‍♀️

Until one day I decided to try and make a ring instead using the square harness technique which is a pretty well known technique in the beading universe🪐🌞🌏✨ And there they were - the ‘Visions’ and ‘Pearly Visions’ rings! Time-consuming, yes, but beautifully chunky 👽🌸

It’s been almost a year since I made these designs and they still call to me every time I see them on my jewellery table, so often I end up wearing more than one of them to match whatever clothes I’m wearing on any given day ❤️💙💛💖

Just look at all of the ‘Pearly Visions’ rings having a party on this pink organza! All of them currently available under the link in bio 🤓

✨ QUESTION FOR YOU ✨
Which one of them would you most like to wear?

🖖🏻 ON THE JOYS OF MANUAL LABOR: beading as a form of meditation 🖖🏻

Like all my designs, the “Modern Romance” bracelet that this funky mannequin hand is sporting is entirely handmade ❤️💙🧡🤍

While there is certainly a huge variety of techniques that my fellow jewellery designers use and that involve materials like polymer clay, resin, shrink plastic etc., to me beading is the technique I feel the most comfortable with 🙆🏻‍♀️

The primary reason for that is probably that I have a very demanding day job that doesn’t leave me much time for anything else, especially for taking care of my mental state 🤖 I feel like I’m constantly in a mad scramble to not let my creativity dissolve in the world of office work.

But then, when it comes to beading, I can find inner peace 👽✨ Because beading techniques are often so repetitive, at some point they start feeling like a second nature and that’s when I catch this special state of flow where time passes by easily and blissfully. It’s like ‘Headspace’ except you also have a new jewellery piece afterwards 🕺🤓

Add to this the ecstatic joy of having a new design work out and look better than expected once in a while - and you get an insanely addictive craft that I’m not sure I’ll ever get enough of ❤️

🥸 QUESTION FOR YOU 🥸
Do you like to make things with your own hands? What’s your favourite craft?

🪐 ON MY RELATIONSHIP WITH BEADED RINGS: why I 🖤 them 🪐

Rings have historically become the go-to “class” of jewellery I like to design.Even though they’re relatively small compared to most other forms there’s a lot of room to play with beading techniques, types of beads, their sizes and colours that I don’t think it’s going to get boring anytime soon 🌝✨

Ever wondered how these rings are made? I’ll tell you how - I basically “sew” them using a super strong transparent nylon thread and a beading needle 🪡 This way I can put beads into specific patterns that make up the ring! 🕺 For my designs I like to use Japanese seed beads, usually from the brand TOHO since they are very even in size and shape, even if they are somewhat more expensive as a result.

With beaded rings there is also an added advantage that they can stretch to a certain extent 🙆🏻‍♀️ That means that one ring can fit, say, both your ring finger (haha, RING finger!) and your middle finger (insert the emoji 😅)!

This is also the case with the “Labyrinth” ring in this photo - I wear it interchangeably on different fingers and so can you! Click the link in bio to check it out 💚💙🖤🤍👽

✨QUESTION FOR YOU✨
What type of jewelry - rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets - do you like wearing most of all? 💛

👾ON HOW I (RE)STARTED TO MAKE JEWELRY👾

TL;DR: it was an accident 👽

When I was a kid, back in Moscow, my parents would buy me those books with different beading schemes and cheap, super uneven glass beads (I don’t think high quality beads were even an available option, given the time and the geography 🤷🏻‍♀️). I would always get so upset that my designs came out nothing like the ideal version in the book, so at some point my passion for beading seemed to have eventually sizzled out…

…until last year my boyfriend Matt came to visit me for my birthday (literally the second the borders opened for travel) and we went to our local boutique to look for some outfits for our band’s stage performances. I tried on this amazing purple & brown skirt and Chieko, the owner of the store, styled it for me with a cool artisan beaded choker.

Matt was like “OH THIS IS SO COOL, YOU GOTTA GET IT! 😱”, and I loved the IDEA of this choker but the pattern and the colors didn’t exactly match my clothing style. So I told him that I have some beading skills myself and could just buy some beads and make one that would suit me well 🤓

Little did I know that my mind was going to be blown by the existence of super even high-quality Japanese seed beads like Toho & Miyuki! 💙 If ONLY I had had access to them as a kid, I’d probably never have given up beading ✨ But I’ll leave a rant about my love for Japanese beads for another time 😅

After I finished that choker, Matt who is probably the most hands-on, visionary person I’ve ever met, immediately said: “YOU GOTTA MAKE A JEWELRY STORE, THIS IS DOPE!” I don’t think the idea of getting my beading out there would ever strike me on my own, so I’m still super shook about how this chance visit to plus my boyfriend’s “crazy far-fetched ideation” mode led me to writing this right here right now 🌞🤖

I guess life DOES work in mysterious ways, huh?

🙂QUESTION FOR YOU🙃
What’s the coolest “twist of fate” that’s led you where you are today?

🎵 ON THE BIRTH OF POP STAR 🎵

I still don’t understand exactly how jewelry designs come to me - one moment there’s nothing and then the next moment I can’t stay seated cause ideas flood my mind 🌊

This necklace I called “Pop Star” cause it stands out so much and I wanted to give its name just the slightest touch of vanity 🙃 this is probably my favorite design I’ve come up with so far but how it came to be is just absurd 👽

Back when my beads were not properly sorted, there would just be piles of bags with beads of different colors, shapes and sizes in each drawer. One summer morning I was excruciatingly bored at work, which is usually when I start daydreaming about beading 😅 So this time I just absentmindedly put my hand into one of the drawers and grabbed a handful of bead bags - and voilà - these are exactly the beads at the centerpiece of the “Pop Star” necklace ⭐️

I also happened to remember that I’d bought some neon yellow acrylic beads back in 2020 so I put one here as a closing bead. And oh goodness it looks so freaking cool that I have to put my hair up every time I wear it just so that I can show that one bead off 💛

What’s YOUR most striking piece of jewelry so far? 🚀

🕺ON THE COMEBACK OF THE EARRINGS (and what they’re made of!)🕺

When I was just starting to design jewellery, for some reason I thought I would mostly make earrings and maaaaybeee - just maybe - sometimes throw a ring into the mix if the muse ever favored me 😅

I suppose it’s because already then I admired the earring-sorceress (who’s still one of my jewellery heroes) AND because I was generally intimidated by bigger forms such as bracelets or necklaces and thought I lacked the talent and vision for those 🤷🏻‍♀️

But fast forward to a couple of months ago - and here I was with my tons of rings, necklaces and bracelets and barely any earrings 👽 I guess because earrings are the only type of jewellery that can’t possibly work without metal parts I subconsciously tried to avoid them. I’m very critical when it comes to the quality of findings and I’ve always found it hard to find something that would be both hypoallergenic and affordable 🤓

However, I do LOVE earrings and so here I am making a conscious effort to make them part of my roster - complete with 5% gold-filled brass findings that WON’T tarnish and WILL be gentle to your ears! ✨

This earring collection here I called “Versus Game” and they can be bought both individually (🕺) or as a pair (👯‍♀️)!

Now you tell me: do you like your earrings matched or mismatched? 💜
