“Manchmal kommt die Verbesserung der Zerstörung sehr nah.”
(Sometimes improvement comes very close to destruction.)
Every 215 begins with yarn, patience and craftsmanship. Through a series of careful steps, it gradually takes shape until it becomes a finished garment.
For Deniz Ludwig Kazim Krauß, it all began at the opposite end.
Starting with finished Merz b. Schwanen 215 T-shirts, he carefully deconstructed each garment-beginning with the very first cut-to retrace the manufacturing process in reverse. Through deconstruction, reconstruction and multiplication, the original garments evolved into sculptural forms while preserving their identity, exploring how transformation can happen without losing one’s origin.
Integrated loops allow each piece to exist both as a wearable garment and as part of the surrounding space, extending its life beyond the wardrobe and reimagining what a garment can become.
The result is Manchmal kommt die Verbesserung der Zerstörung sehr nah., now on display at FOME in Osaka, Japan, marking the first public presentation of this collaboration.
Thank you, Deniz Ludwig Kazim Krauß , for inviting us to be part of such a thoughtful exploration of craftsmanship, identity and transformation.
