From the flax fields of Belgium, France, and the Netherlands to the coast and beyond. Crafted from certified European-grown linen, this 220 g/m² fabric offers natural breathability, a cooling feel, and an effortless drape that gets softer and more characterful with time.

Timeless silhouettes, refined textures, and an easy attitude - designed to move seamlessly between laid-back and elevated. Finished with woven labels produced on an original 1890 loom in Germany and carefully made in Portugal.

A new fabric for summer.

Our European Standard Linen is made from 100% organic, traditionally harvested European-grown flax, bringing natural breathability, comfort, and texture to a selection of warm-weather staples.

Leading the collection are two versions of our Worker’s Jacket, available in both standard and cropped cuts.

The result is a mid-weight fabric with natural texture, lasting comfort, and a clean, timeless look designed for all-day wear.

We are still taking in what an incredible opening event it was. From the entire Merz b. Schwanen team - with our Head Office miles away, in Berlin - we feel truly honoured and grateful to have such a strong and meaningful community in California.

Thank you to everyone who took the time and brought the energy to celebrate this milestone with us, and for all the beers and wines we enjoyed together along the way. As a family-run business, seeing so many people show up for us is an incredibly humbling feeling, and one we never take for granted.

We would also like to thank our team, who were such an integral part of making this opening so special. Thank you for believing in and building this dream with us every step of the way. Your dedication, care, and hard work made this celebration possible.

Thank you for supporting us through every chapter we’ve shared together, and for being just as excited about our future as we are. We are already looking forward to the next chapters ahead - and we hope we’ll be able to celebrate them together too.

Every Merz b. Schwanen store is built the same way we make our garments: with care, restraint and respect for what already exists. What fills the space is only part of the story.

That same thinking extends to the pieces that shape the space itself. In partnership with - the remarkable team travelling through Denmark and Germany to source and restore forgotten furniture - we brought new life to beautiful originals, including our Poul Cadovius teak wall system. Carefully refurbished, thoughtfully preserved. Much like our loopwheeled garments, made slowly and restored to purpose through craft.

There are places that lend themselves to certain kinds of brands. And then there are places that feel, almost uncannily, as though they have been waiting for them.

Abbot Kinney is one of those places — and it is here that Merz b. Schwanen opens its third global store.

Laid-back yet fast-moving, it is Los Angeles distilled into a single boulevard: where small-batch is standard, materiality and process are paramount, and everything is considered. Tinged with the European influence woven in by its founder’s original vision, it carries an enduring sense of artistry and counterculture. A natural home for us.

A sibling to Berlin and New York, the new store finds its place among LA’s decidedly put-together yet pointedly unpolished coterie of creatives — those drawn to original things.

Follow traces of sand from the beach to the boulevard, and you’ll find us.
